Outlook Express Help

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

A friend of mine - who happens to be blind - is having trouble opening attachments in Outlook Express. The folks who sell his screen reader software are basically telling him a bunch of dirty fibs about what the correct keyboard shortcut is.

He has regular full Outlook figured OK, but really needs this as well for his home PC. He's cool with stuff like Alt- and Ctrl- keystrokes, and also cool with F keys, so I don't think anything complicated is going to cause him difficulties. Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut to allow opening attachments directly from OE without having to save them first, or an alternate email client that will be well supported by screen reader software?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Never ever open email attachments. Most of them are viruses.

Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

Also, I'm having some problems with OE. It's not letting me read alt.gothic

I can click on it, but it detects no new messages at all. It detects new groups and everything, but NO new messages in alt.gothic

I know it sometimes has its slow weeks, but not for this many months..

Any ideas what's up with it?

I just had a look in alt.gothic. Plenty of posts, dozens even today. Maybe something wrong with your news server.
