So who'll win the World Cup...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

TBH, I don't care that much. 8)
We must win for economic reasons. Otherwise the whole country will get depressive and nobody wants that again, eh?

So if you all would please....

We'll have a hard time in that group with Argentina and Serbia/Montenegro. Lets hope van Basten will get his tactics right despite the lack of experience.

I was just being sarcastic as Ireland aren't there. :( I don't really think Germany will win it. I'll hope for one of the outsiders to win it.

If they don't beat countries like Servia and the Ivory Coast they won't deserve it.
Compared to other Dutch national teams the past years this team might have a chance because of the good teamspirit (which hasn't always been the case) and individual qualities. Besides that: Klaas Jan Huntelaar should be added!
Talking about him: Congrats to the national youth team for winning the European championship finals and becoming the champs! :notworthy:

I agree with Norman Hunter - I think Brazil will do it. Would like to see Crouch score a hat trick in the final though.

Failing that let Togo win. :D

Since the shindig is in Europe a european team will probably win. They ususally do. Spain has a great team, but they have a long tradition of... not winning. England has a great team. As do Italy. Well, most teams are great since they're in the world cup, but I predict those three will make it past quarter finals and one of them will then beat Brazil in the finals. Perhaps.

Deffo England.
Without a doubt.
I am 110% confident....

I like to build us up and assume that we are guaranteed to win - letting forth such sayings as "we deserve it", "It's our turn now" and "we invented the bloody-game it's our god-given right to win it"
This makes the massive let down and period of national mourning when we get knocked out in a penalty shoot-out (or "robbed") much more depressing and upsetting. Which I like.

How very goff! :D

However, I really think that England have a very good chance of winning it.

I maintain that we need a World Cup 5-a-side game on a tiny astroturf pitch. who cares if you can boot a ball half a mile, let's see how you do when you only have to pass about 3 metres.

Plus we'd need my old PE teacher, Mr Ilott, as referee. He gives the game extra rules, and "hidden rules" (for example: we played football on a rugby field once, using the rugby posts as a goal, and the ball went over the bar, someone said that in rugby that'd be 3 points. He agreed, blew his whistle and awarded that team 3 goals.)

That'd be a game I'd watch. 8)

I hate football. Thankfully I have digital television to get me through the grim months when terrestrial TV broadcasts nothing but football.

Also, I shall have to buy myself a pair of earplugs, so that when all the bulky baldies in their white England T-shirts go marching down the streets of Minehead, drunkenly screaming “ENGLAND. ENGLAND. I can protect my delicate ears.
