RIP Christian Prante, aka "Doc P"

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I've been asked to pass on the sad news that Christian Prante, aka "Doc P", passed away last night.

I've just spoken to Johnny M, and I gather Christian hadn't been feeling too well the last couple of days and had been into hospital for tests, but then last night he died of a heart attack, in his sleep.

Personally, I'm stunned. I don't really know what to say - I've met Christian a few times, and had the pleasure of meeting his wife last April in Paris.

Christian was a genuinely lovely guy, a loving husband and doting father.

I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say how tragic a loss it is.

Our deepest sympathies are with Christian's family and friends.

Thanks for listening,
QB

You'll be missed Christian.

Only had the pleasure of meeting him once, but he seemed a great, outgoing guy. Thanks for your part in that great night in Tilburg, Doc, and for the friendly PMs. :|

Best wishes to all affected by his loss :(

never met the man, but always sad to hear about sudden loss.

am i the only one who feels that 'died of a heart attack in his sleep' is an odd thing at his age ?

perhaps one shouldn't pry.

EDIT: Just sorta hit me. He's the first HL casualty.. but certainly not the last. That kinda scares me.

I am genuinely shocked and disturbed by this dreadful news.
I never met Christian but we corresponded a lot by e-mail and he always came across as caring and fun guy. I sent him an e-mail at 20:32 last night with revisions to his avatar

Just spotted this at the top of the page after posting a few bits of the usual nonsense - boy does that seem insignificant now and it has stopped me in my tracks.

Well said at the top Quiff, can add no more and if I can donate for flowers/charity etc. just let me know...

Shocking news. I didn't know Christian apart from his posting on here but he seemed like a nice genuine guy. Very sad news indeed. Don't know what else to say.

Awful news.

Never knew him, but QB's words speak volumes about someone who just seemed to be 'one of the good ones.'

My prayers go out to Christian, his family, and his friends.

Such sad news.
Yesterday, I quoted your post, not knowing it would be your last one.

You were listening to Placebo with the cover of 'Running up that hill'.
That wonderful song will never sound the same to me.
It will always remind me of you, though I didn't knew you personnel.

My thoughts are with everyone who have to move on without you.
So painful

Folks, Just had a chat with (an upset) Mr Blast and I'm happy to organise some flowers or suchlike on behalf of Heartland - seems like the least we can do.

Just need to know where to send them and any thoughts on what they should constitute?

Thanks

Dave

I feel we should let Sandra, Amélie and Charlotte know how well he was thought of, so I'd be up for anything, thanks Dave.

Thanks all, it is "only" a bunch of flowers so I'll look after that for us all - you can buy me a beer sometime I hope in the not too distant future. More importantly just need to get this organised sooner rather than later -
just need to know where to send them...

Very sad to hear this.

I didn't know him that well either, but he was one of the nice ones indeed, with funny and witty remarks sometimes.

My condoléances to all concerned, wife, kids, family, friends...

And the Paypal thing seems a good idea. Maybe you can make a PayPal address known in your initial posting, QUIFFY? So we know where we can donate for flowers or whatever.

Not much more to say. Weird for a guy that's known for his 'witty remarks' et al, but at this moment reality hits hard.

AFAIK, it is indeed one of the first 'regulars' to leave us. You all have to promise me, one by one, that you will not leave us that soon...

Also, remember: don't only be saddened for his leaving, above all be glad you knew him as a wonderful person, a lovely husband, a good father, a nice forum buddy and a true friend.
And cherish those memories. It is more appropriate to remember him with a fond smile upon your face than with a tear.

Requiescat in Pace, Frater...
