aye, saw nosferatu at the banshee once. a mate's band were support so a few of us went (home town gig, and all that).
nosferatu turned up in a hearse
and there were only about 10 people at the gig - and most of them had come for the support band
bloody awful. a cheap drum machine, very weedy guitar sound, no real tunes, dreadful lyrics, and a god awful phantasmagoria-vanian clone (but 2ft shorter ) "singing" the worst attempt at barotone you've ever heard.
i seem to recall they were promoting a single by the name of "vampyre's cry" at the time
"vampyre's spin in coffin" more like
dreadful band. an utter embarassment, and EXACTLY the reason why goth had such a bad image in mainstream press
Some people write some rubbish about the sisters

Faux Prussian accent my arse - the guy sounds like David Bowie in a bad mood, that's all. Not that a faux prussian accent mightn't be worth trying ('or vill you valk avay?')...

More Nosferatu silliness: The lead guitarist (who also owned the hearse) was allegedly called Vlad Yanicek or something similar.
If he was given that name by his parents, I'll eat my own arms.

Well, I can do one better than that. I don't know why I'm telling you this, I'm sure if there were black marks to put against peoples names, this would surely warrant one.
Not only do I still own all the Nosferatu albums, I also joined the Gothic Society, a society run by Nosferatu. They published a quarterly fanzine called the Grimoire, it used to contain Gothic poetry etc etc.
On reflection, I have to say I was very bad at being a 'Goff' too much of a rocker
All good fun though, wouldn't change a thing

Do you people go to meetings where you stand up and say "my name is (name) and I saw Nosferatu once"?
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Not yet, I imagine when I'm going through my first nervous breakdown, Nosferatu will be found to have been the cause of at least some of the neurological damage.mh wrote:Do you people go to meetings where you stand up and say "my name is (name) and I saw Nosferatu once"?

But surely no-one here on Heartland would be so goff as to have had a short story printed in the aforementioned Gothic Society Grimoire...?bananacamel wrote:Not only do I still own all the Nosferatu albums, I also joined the Gothic Society, a society run by Nosferatu. It's like therapy this, it's good to know others have gone through the same shame.

Their first lp Rise is pretty good, if very SERIOUS - its the follow up, The Prophecy I think, which saw them trip off into laughable gothick faery land, deary deary me....Dark wrote:I have a "Rise" test pressing. I only have one test pressing and that's MR013, which is nice. No idea how much that's worth either
