Lemmy & Philthy wreck hotel room...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Robert Calvert had serious mental problems, he wasn't on any psychedelics, he was on control drugs and many spells in 'institutions' to keep his mania at bay. Remember this was back in the 70s, a less enlightened time.
Ultimately, a tragic yet creative man in an unfortunate scene.

That still doesn't excuse making the band that brought us Silver Machine sound and look like Roxy Music on a bad night.

Silver Machine wasn't all Hawkwind were about, there are far better in thier canon.

Awww, now I want to drag out my copy of Space Ritual and give it a good whoosh!!!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Too damn right. For my money, they were right up there with Can, Neu and the rest. And that's just for one song (You Shouldn't Do That).

One band long long overdue a serious reappraisal.

Calvert gave them a bit of a punk feeling and so brought a new generation into the Church of Hawkwind. After the Sisters, this is the only band I will travel to see.
