YouTube Question.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Since everyone seems to muck around with that lovely site nowadays, is there a way to download these movies?

I'd really like to put some on CD/DVD for future reference :notworthy:

Thanks in advance.

Aye, there's a Firefox plug in just for that. They're in Flash Video format tho, so you'd also need a converter if you wanna watch them on telly. Haven't looked for one yet (I don't watch telly) but as soon as I find a good one I'll let you know.

Oh yeah, the plug in link:

;D The pluggin works great, I´ve sucked youtube`s server dry on some occasions yet.
:innocent:
P.S.: You will need a player that can handle .flv files. VLC player is my choice here.

It's pretty well hidden, but you should have it on the bottom-right of the window, like so:

Just give it a click and yer off.

Nope, the only button there is the one for RSS feeds.

Oh, it must be the Firefox version then. My apologies. I'm on 1.5something and it works fine.

Can I upgrade to 1.5 without installing my old version?

I heard one time that it is not advisable to 'upgrade' a Firefox version, you have to de-install your old one and install a new one from scratch.

Any truth to this?

Help/Check for Updates did it OK for me. I dunno about a version so far back though, the option may not be there. I've never done an update from 1.0 meself. If you have a PC in work or something like that you can experiement on, it might be no harm first.

Just make sure you save/export your favourites before you upgrade Firefox. I once lost mine in the process, but apart from that it should be no problem.

By the way, another YouTube thingy...

I've seen other forums where posters could embed videos from Youtube (so you just had to click play), could that possibly be enabled on here as well? :innocent:

It probably could I'd imagine, but the low bandwidth folks might not be too happy about it.

As long as they don't click play they wouldn't loose it, I guess? Don't know actually, just a question

This is sensational. They also played 100 years and Play for today. I have it on some dodgy old VHS. :von:

BTW, I also DLed the FireFox Extension 'UnPlug', which works even better for me.

The Video DownLoader thingy froze up a lot, resulting in me clicking away frantically with no results.

The UnPlug works together with Video DLer, but you don't have to have VDL installed. It works better, IMO, and also finds other embedded media in the webpage.

Just another goodie. You can use RIVA FLV Encoder to convert those pesky FLV files to MPEGs so you can burn a DVD from them.

It's free and it's nice. Done a creditable job for me so far.

Their site is here:
