Blue Monday!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

The guy at my favourite record store once said it's the record he sells most. He gets new ones every other day and apparently sells one about every day still

Still got to get me one myself though  Great song!

I have 2 :D

Floppy disk with cut-out bits, no sexy inner bag though, just a glossy black inner sleeve, and a reissue with a plain sleeve. Both the original, both knackered from over-playing.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Mine cost more than that in 1983. Not exactly a collector's item then.

Seems there was a 1983 reissue without them. Various sources claim that the famous "money loss" was a myth, but it seems that there must have been something of that nature going on, cos the uncut sleeves are definitely far more common.

Nup! not got it, and totally bored with that tune.
I mean, really bored so much so that I wince when I hear it.

Can I throw my own random lie in at this point?

I've got the original demo by Paper Lace. It's in a genuine doily cover, with all the holes cut out by hand. They told Hooky he could have it for Warsaw to cover because he did the backing vocals on 'Billy, Don't Be A Hero.' Paper Lace wrote it in B# for banjo accompaniment but Gillian Gilbert transposed it to Cmin7 and added the synth part.

Some of this is a lie. Some of this isn't.

Patrick wrote:"Here is a picture of me with my copy of Blue Monday, bought at the Carfax branch of Music Market, in Oxford , on the day of release. I am also clutching my copy of New Order's LP Power Corruption & Lies, which was released in the same year as Blue Monday . As you can see the back cover of the LP is also die cut to resemble a floppy disk, more importantly the colour wheel allows you to decode the text on the sleeve of Blue Monday. Starting at the top and reading clockwise each colour represents a letter or number. Pink is "F" or 6, Green is "A" or 1, Mauve is "C" or 3. Now you can read the sleeve text."
