What's this?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I was cleaning up my hard drive and found this different version of Gimme Shelter. It says it's the "single version." It's shorter than what is on SGWBM but it could just be a vinyl rip of the version on the Temple Of Love Vinyl. :?:

I'm guessing it's a rip from a bootleg containing the singles. Having listened to my TOL vinyl, I can say itt's certainly not good enough to be a direct vinyl-to-mp3 rip, qualitywise.

Unless it's an pre-mastered unmixed "demo" version, otherwise, I haven't a clue.

Yup. I slowed it down to the original 5:55 and it sounds much more similar to the SGWBM/Temple vinyl.

Channel balance is way way off also, and dynamics are savagely compressed.

Unless I'm very much wrong and you do have some genuine gold here, I'm guessing it's either some poxy bootlegger's attempt at "manufacturing" a demo, or a dreadful recording from vinyl made with a lousy TT.

Edit: Or both.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Or the "Kiss The Carpet" demo? Pish, it's the original.

If nothing else, the Train demo's a bit weird, since it's only 6:59, rather than Long Train (7:24) and Train (2:37).
