Andrew's health?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hi, I'm new to the forums, and I'm from Croatia (and went to both of the Sisters only gigs here in 15 years span, which makes me let's say - adult enough :) ).
I guess I won't be much of an regular on this board, but nevertheless forgive me, I want to ask a question out of pure curiousity. And where to ask it, if not at the place where the most knowledgeable people on the given subject gather? 8)

Also, forgive me if this fits into some other part of this forum :|

Anyway, been browsing a bit the net (after the recent Sisters gig here), and along with the same thing I've heard from other people, stumbled onto this quotation from Wikipedia (being numerous times repeated elsewhere on the Internet), that Andrew's past health problems (I know he's alright now, and he looks that way) also contributed to the desintegration of the "First and last and allways" lineup of the band. Namely:
Eldritch's deteriorating health and psychological problems worsened the situation. Most songs on the album were written and rehearsed by Marx, Hussey, and Adams
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sisters_of_Mercy

So, was it the drugs? And what means psychological problems?
Judging by the way I saw him hopping around the stage, he's more than allright now, physically at least.

And few people I know talked to him while he visited the club where the "after-party" was thrown, said he was polite and considerate and blah blah... Dressed in St. Pauli footbal club jersey (now that's 8) - definite sign of psychological rigour :) )

Howdy and welcome - stick around. It's alright here.
The answer is yes. It was the drugs and lots of them. Amphetamine logic baby. :von:

Anyway, more importantly - how's Igor Stimac :?:

Yeah, I heard that he (not Å timac  ) enjoyed quite a lot hallucinogenics before... I read the interview where he very vaguely said "I spent two years retrieving my physical health."
OK, at least it wasn't something of a regular chronic things....

Oh, one other thing.. your sig. As much as I'd love images in sigs to be allowed, they're apparently not (unless they're particularly tiny), so I'd remove it if I were you.

Otherwise, welcome!

Thanks for the update :!: :D

:von: famously overindulged in the speed scene - especially during the recording of FALAA, where he suffered from near exhaustion. His use of any other chemicals is less well documented.

He;s getting on a bit now but I reckon he still dabbles...... :innocent:

Tx for quick replies, I appreciate this (although I don't know what inebriated mean, I realize "spy" was a typo). Quite a friendly atmosphere here 8)

But, to comment on the Eldritch's poor past condition, I guess "War on drugs" has some strong personal touches then :) ?

It's OK, s**t happens to anyone (I know that coming from a country recently out of the war on which you could automatically apply half of the Sisters lyrics to describe how it was). I guess, Morrissey (if this name is allowed to be mentioned in this shrine?) recently commented all that with:
There's no such thing in life as normal...

Aye, captain, I just put the random pic for no particular reason. But since I don't like this "unpersonal" touch, I'll just add the pic of my little son in my avatar (daddy's pride, what can I say?) and let the thread sink to the bottom of the page ;D

No problemo, you could do a lot worse. :P
Do not worry, you'll be told as soon as you cross the line. ;D
As for Von's drugs condition, you may know that FALAA was originally supposed to be released in late 84. It was pushed back to early 85 when Von went on detox. :von:
Welcome to HL. :notworthy:
