In case you've missed it in the "Winter in July" thread...
It's "smoke, floods, and stolen goods" as The Sisters Of Murphy bring their infamous Floorshow to the beautifully air conditioned Mixing Tin venue in Leeds...
The Sisters Of Murphy sound a lot like a certain other band with a very similar name... in fact they sound an awful lot like that band, so much so that they play all the same songs and everything!!
Doors 8pm, band onstage 9pm. Only £3 in which includes entry to "Friday Flock" which follows the gig.
Friday 14th July 2006
The Mixing Tin, Albion Street, Leeds
8pm - 2am

Well, I'd book you into the Hotel Bastardos, Great Preston, but it's already looking fearfully oversubscribed. You could find yourself quite literally sleeping on the Techno Garage floor.Francis wrote:Tickets bought. Just gotta decide on t'hotel.

An enjoyable, interesting gig in a 'matthew tonight I'm going to be' sort of way, the vocals were way to high in the mix though and definately not enough smoke
Say!
In the dark? Here in the dark!
Would you, could you, in the dark?

That was probably due to one side of the PA having blown. It would be hard to push a full mix out of half a PA, this could have made the vocals sound a bit further forward than the backline.jande wrote:An enjoyable, interesting gig in a 'matthew tonight I'm going to be' sort of way, the vocals were way to high in the mix though and definately not enough smoke
However I agree with you on the smoke. A few joss sticks would have given that display a run for it's money at times. Come on Pads, pedal on the right!!!!!

I wouldn't either, 'cause I'm usually in a cab back to an hotel somewhere in Leeds

nope. thats not their remit.Ozpat wrote:Do they ever play the "new" songs?
and why would they want to, when everyone slags off the real sisters for playing too much new stuff?!
the smurphs' remit is to play the old stuff, in the old way. the show is intended to be pretty much a "greatest hits" show, with a few "special" tracks, that the sisters never play, thrown in from time to time (black planet, 9 while 9, etc) to please the obscurists
