I’ve witnessed many arguments between friends about which album is the greatest Stooges album: ‘The Stooges’; the avant-garde, jazz-tinged ‘Funhouse’, or the balls to the wall, ear-ringing ‘Raw Power’.
So, I’m curious as to which album is your favourite, why it is your favourite, and which is the most popular on MyHeartland. I’m sure we have some Stooges fans here.
I, personally, can’t decide between ‘Funhouse’ and ‘Raw Power’, although I am leaning more towards ‘Raw Power’. I really can’t say I care for the first album, it has three very good songs(1969, No Fun, I Wanna be your Dog) but is too slow and drags in places.
Favourite Stooges Album?

I've gone for Raw Power but it's a tricky decision.
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

I'm a 1st LP man all the way. Never really got Funhouse - not enough tunes - and to me there's only 2 good songs on Raw Power (Search & Destroy and Gimme Danger).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

As Nick said, there are some weaker songs on the first LP. But it's very, very hard to choose between Fun house and Raw power.
Fun house is probably the most consistent of the three. Again, some slightly weaker tunes on Raw power.
Fun house is the best album, even though it doesn't necessarily have the best songs (I wanna be your dog and Gimme danger).
Well, it still has TV eye, so that's not too shabby.

Fun House. Great riffs and repetitive in the right way. A fine album.

tough call, but Funhouse wins out. i prefer the Complete Fun House Sessions 5-disc set from Rhino Handmade, if i have a choice.
Eldo played Funhouse before almost every show i saw in 1991, in DC he played it twice thru.
