First And Last And Always Original Mixes

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Is it worth the trouble to search for a Vinyl rip FALAA torrent on the web?
I'll see you sometime later
When I'm through with my accumulator.

I doubt whether you'll find one.

Your better off getting it from ebay (i've seen em going for £4) and doing the rip yourself.

FALAA is still on sale as a CD. It's dodgier ground.

Yeah, I´ve got the 1988 CD, but I´m curious if my ears will notice any difference, I´ve got a tape somewhere from the original vinyl, I think the chances that I would find it in my basement is lower than a websearch for a rip.

The "vinyl mixes" aren't still on sale. To be honest, the songs that aren't on still-available compilations are fair game, as far as I'm concerned. We can't buy On The Wire or Sandstorm with any money going to the artists, so I see no problem downloading them.

It's officially released material, even if it's no longer officially available. And just the sort of thing that might get us into trouble.

We don't want the "copyright cops" to get too interested in HL in case they think that weeding and sharing bootlegged concerts are naughty, and decide to shut us down.

Ayup, that's pretty much what I was thinking. It would be an awful shame if one person's act of goodwill was to end up spoiling the party for everyone.

There's a world of difference between B sides (on deleted singles) and officially released LP tracks, even if the peculiar situation with FALAA does muddy things a little. Now, if FALAA were to be deleted tomorrow, I'd probably wait a coupla months to see what way the wind's blowing and then put the damn thing up and take the consequences.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Thanks for starting this thread, it made me get off my arse and rip my F&L&A vinyl, and you're right it's great. I'm a bit sad really, I own 6 copies of F&L&A

Orig 1985 LP
Orig 1985 Cass
Orig 1985 LP Gatefold
Japanese Import LP
1988 CD
1992 CD

I nearly bought the picture disc a few months ago, but had to stop myself.

If anyone still has any questions about which mixes are where, ask me and I'll do my best to give them a listen and answer them :)

Whatever the differences (& there are), the vinyl will anyhow sound better than the CD. More dynamic, more "umph".
(Provided you look after your vinyl)

CDs are the devil's work & unless you spend a small fortune on a player that has near perfect error correction, you may as well use them as coasters or xmas tree decorations.
Cheers.

There seems to be enough vinyl copies out there for those who care. I (and the music industry) appreciate all the old farts who sell it all off only to buy it over again on cd.

There's one here but it's pretty crap (too small):

No, I don't, not here anyway.

I will decribe it though.

Outer:

Front: Album art on black back, red letters white border.
Back: Track list, warner stamp, MR 337L

Inner, gate: Von Silletted in th smoke
Inner, cover Front: Detroit's finest adult movies picture, with track list
Back: Line up and production details. With individual pics of the band posing in front of red background.

Record: Has R/S Alsdorf and a code printed on, and uk carved on by hand.

Is it worth anything, I assume its an origonal pressing...anymore info would be nice..
