Worst Sisters songs.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

From "worst" to "almost tolerable":

Slept
Romeo Down
Summer
Something Fast
When You Don't See Me
(We are the same) Suzanne

All of which, amazingly, were played in Malmoe.

(We are the same) Suzanne...surely that can't be amongst your least favourite.

Formulaic and tedious, it sounds like someone's tried to write a Sisters song (and failed).

YCBTO sounds like The Sisters on bad booze and cheap distortion pedals, which, of course, is great.

Well, I can actually see your point on both counts.

I do like my trashy rock n roll to be like this... http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-re ... look.shtml

...and not like You Could be the One.

Which is exactly why I don't like this thread. I don't think it's any good.
But it's only one man's opinion. 8)

Welcome to Heartland! I see that you do not object to You Could Be the One being considered for the Sisters' worst song, so you will do quite well around here with some of the smarter folks. ;D

OK, but that was strange for me, somebody considers the best songs (in my opinion) as the worst ones.

I don't like possession, nine while nine, torch.

And what's so great about all this early 80's stuff? I think Von was right: primitive.

Isn't Vision Thing very fine?

That's what I thought too. I'm not a fan of Torch, but Possession is a very good track. And how someone can not love 9n9 is simply beyond me. :?

Mysteries of life...

BTW I think both the first era and VT are just fine. 8)

I would have said the same about Possession when I first heard it all those years ago (was it really 18?). But it's kinda taken over a bit ( :urff: ) now, and - yes - it's a very very good track.

What's genuinely bad? Untitled (Dominion B side, not the other one) and Sandstorm have always seemed totally pointless to me, Walk Away is the one of the songs I normally skip, UTG, Watch, and maybe a few others: they're weak but not what I'd call genuinely bad.

Afterhours, however, is.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I don't mind the Dominion b-sides. Sandstorm's one of the Sisters' better songs, to be honest. No dirgey singing, an ambient background and a good sax (synth?).
Untitled's a bit odd, and Ozymandias is an excuse to turn a song backwards and add extra drums. But still okay. ;)
