but some tunes are made for these long sunny days -

to pluck one album out of this thin, still, summer air

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I think it was that Mr. Boom chappy who gave me problems, a friend gave me his album Spectrum, like for free and to keep, I gave her it back.

Black Sabbath is very good summer music. Especially when driving. The knobheads that annoy everyone with banging R'n'B on 10000000 Watt sound systems have got competition!

I just rmemberd that this album now is more than 20 years old...Badlander wrote:
Not the whole album.
The track Hello earth is very much associated with summer nights. And the stars.
An I just remembered I haven´t listened to it for ages! Thanks for inspiring me!

I just play some Atari Teenage Riot/Young Gods if those 10000000 Watt sound system people annoy memarkfiend wrote:Black Sabbath is very good summer music. Especially when driving. The knobheads that annoy everyone with banging R'n'B on 10000000 Watt sound systems have got competition!

fair enough, but I think ATR would annoy me almost as much as the R'n'B/(c)rap/whatever they generally listen to.

I find them invigorating like a cool, sharp breeze Only in small doses. For the Sabbath vibe I try these....markfiend wrote: fair enough, but I think ATR would annoy me almost as much as the R'n'B/(c)rap/whatever they generally listen to.

Bit o' 4AD loveliness always goes down well... some Cocteau Twins or Deid Can Dance .
Kraftwerk's good when you're going on holiday (especially if you go the kind of places I go, and you actually are having fun fun fun on the autobahn ).
Project Pitchfork always work for me in a similar Teutronik way.
Siouxsie - Hyaena for me because that was the only album of theirs I bought at the start of summer. Floodland for the same reason... I always associate the music I own very closely with the time I got it.
Wench's self-titled album was great as well, before I lost it. Seems to be all they've released - like a cross between Delerium and Einsturzende Neubauten with a powerful, deep female vocal. Good stuff.
And what summer choonz collection would be complete without a little James Rays Gangwar/Performance?!?!

I always think of The Sisters as autumn/winter music. See Nine While Nine / Driven Like The Snow

They're more of a springtime thing for me, but that's for the same reasons as boudicca.

Wire's Chairs Missing and 154 were two I got in the summertime, so I allas equate them with hot sunny days, Zeppelin III is the ultimate summer album.
