Doktor Gott in semi-clean shocker!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

It had to happen! I've been moaning about it for months and some of you have even witnessed the Tsunami of chemcial abuse that is yours truly!

Well, things are going to change.. As you all know I spent silly money on an insanely fast bike, so its time to put that to use and get my system a lot cleaner.. (a 45 minute blitz round central london this lunchtime persuaded me to the wisdon of this!)

Not that I'm going to stop indulging from time to time.. that's what at least two weekends out of the month are for dammit! But I figure I can easily do an hour of mental cycling each lunchtime and start on the nicotine patches to get meself a lot fitter than I actually am.. (luckily one of my best friends is a dietician at Guys so I can get that side of things looked at for feck all!)

So apologies in advance for the profuse swearing next week when I quit the fags! It's all going to be a bit Doktor Gott and Mr Hyde for a few weeks.. :urff:

and don't worry about lack of chemicals. A 45 minute cycle through the horror that is central London will be all you need to get the toxin levels back up  All those fumes, mmmmm.

Best of luck mate.

I was about to ask what bike, then I remembered you use one of those funny things without an engine...

Life, like riding a bike, is about balance.

Thanks for the support guys!

The weekend was a total blow-out to say the least and I'm actually surprised that I feel nowhere near as rough as I should.. Saying that though, I'm itching like a lice-ridden soldier in the trenches thanks to the fricking nicotine pactch on me back.. I figure that it's a kind of substitution therapy, the craving for fags is nothing compared with the fricking itching! gah!

So day one of the detox is here.. expect a LOT of swearing! :urff:

You just hang in there Doktor Gott! :notworthy: Itching is the worst kind of irritating thing that can happen but it's for the greater good of your health!

Hat off to you though, don't want to stop smoking yet or stop getting stoned but I think it's time for me to stop drinking so much!

Too many empty wine bottles as proof and seen as though Jos isn't allowed any alcohol for the next six months, due to medication he has to start tonight, I might just join him and have a drying session for half a year....after typing those words, shock is due to set in any moment now! :?

Thanks!

The patches do appear to be working, I last had 1/3 of a cigarette at about half four this morning and since then I haven't had the chronic urge for a fag I get when I try going clean without any help. It's kind of weird to be honest but it doesn't feel anywhere as bad as I normally do when I quit - i.e headaches, dizziness and a very strong urge to kill or bash my head off a wall!

Here's to knocking all this crap on the head for as long as possible! (Though I do reserve the right to get spangled on special occassions! ;) )

Been 36+ hours without a fag now and my chest is itching like feck cos of the nicotine patch..

Downside was the insomnia through lack of fags.. had to take some proplus this morning to get through work, and preparations for funeral tomorrow..

:D

Then detox proper next month when I'm skint!

Anyways, I've got an exciting new potential project that could be rather spiffing.. more of that later.. but involves fecked up cinema, and a bit of a club stylee shindig after!

Sounds like you're doing well - pity the smoking ban isn't in force down south yet. The itching would drive me potty. Maybe another brand of patches might be less irritating.

Nah, I've kind of grown accustomed to my "hair shirt" in a kind of spanish inquisition kind of way.. the itch takes away from the cravings if they're there at all!

Update:

Well, things are going quite well.. still been a bit spangled, but I actually managed two totally clean days last week (unless you include the cider and beer I had yesterday..)

The no smoking has been piece of p*ss to be honest, but I figure that's more to do with the patches than anything else. Next week is the real test when I lower my dose of nicotine..

Been cycling like mad and I think there's going to be a lot more of that in the future as I've kind of hooked up with a girl that works as a cycle courier! (Just as well I bought me death machine recently then!)

To top it all off, I went back to hers after we met on the Critical Mass mass round London on Friday night (causing chaos on the roads in Central London for three hours and drinking a lot of beer on the way - thank heavens you can't get done for DUI on a pushbike.. welL i think you can't!) and in the morning I used the scales in her place and found I'm under 14 stones for the first time in god knows how long! So I'm now 13.88 stones or 86kg for you metric types.. Now I just got to check my BMI - it must be proper in the green zone!

:!: Don´t trust the BMI :!:
Some years back I was working 13 kilometres away from where I live.
My car broke down, there were no busses or trains going at the times I needed them, so I had to go by bike. When I started, my wheight was 96 Kilogramms (15.49 Stones), after two weeks it were 98 Kg (A big, big Rock..)
The BMI told me I was adipose all that time. Despite me having enough muscles in my legs to kick a sputnik into orbit at that time..
(I admit that today, I rather look like that sputnik.. )

Yeah, I read about the differences between BMI and actual body health.. thing is, I'm like two people, slim on top and built like the proverbial brick s***house in the legs.. worst of it is, cyclings going to exacerbate that! Could it be, Doktor Gott in gym shocker! maybe.. :P

Best of it is, even after two weeks of intense cycling (for me anyway) I'm feeling the effects, went to a pharmacist today to join their no smoking programme (cheap patches) and my lung function was pretty good for 25 a day smoker.. ex smoker.. and my legs are rock hard with the muscles getting a caning.. it actually feels good to be feel the effects of all this sweating and swearing! :D

Now all I got to do is kick the spangling truly into touch... :innocent:

or maybe not..

Doktor Gott in Gym Shocker!

Surely nothings that bad, Darryl. Gyms....what the fcuk are they all about???

Glad to hear you're handling it all with customary aplomb, mate. It's certainly worthwhile toning the spangling down, but never totally. Gawd, how dull would life be without the occasional blow-out.

Keep on keeping on...
