A New Release Of Sorts...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

This raises some interesting questions...
Interesting to see DVD rights have been sorted out... Or maybe not... How's about Shot 2 being released on DVD please??? In an official capacity...

All I can say is :notworthy:

A glimmer of light on the horizon perhaps...

So, Von allows TWO of his songs to be included on a release that is sold precisely as GOTH. Where did the so-often-espoused anti-goth principles go? Did the need for cash eat his integrity? Has his Merc run out of petrol? Or is it all Warner's doing?

Don't get me wrong - I think it's great to get the songs out there to as big an audience as possible. But it makes his previous anti-goth declarations look a little silly...

Most goth compilations have some Sisters tracks on them. That's because, IIRC, Warner owns all of the Sisters' back catalogue, so they can license the tracks to any compilation they want.

I'm pretty sure that Nick Cave would also have reservations about his stuff being included, and he's in a position where he has a proper recording contract with (presumably some kind of) artistic control, and does sell records.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I went looking for Shot Rev2.0 on DVD, given that my VHS copy (a) is in London and (b) won't play on whatever passes for a video here in the colonies. Located a disk that included both Wake and Shot on it, think I paid about $12 for it. I won't post the link here for fear of incurring the wrath of QB, but if you want the disk and you don't care too much about where you get it from, it's out there. The quality's pretty good, too.

I really fancy an almond slice. There used to be this great bakery in Leeds - if you go down Cardigan Road, till you get to the Ashvilles, you pass the Co-Op on the right, then a little bit further on - they used to do enormous ham salad baps for about 1.50, and almond slices. Don't know if it's still there, but they were great.

You may just as well say "Ick bin ain Berliner", as this Image is called a "Berliner" in most parts of germany, and is mainly a donut without hole. Much better, right?

To bring this slightly back to the topic and prevent further hesitation, deviation or repetition... in what way are Love N Rockets, Gene Loves Jezabel and Flesh for Lulu 'goth'?! Soft American MOR pop-pap more like!

And Throbbing Gristle - 'goth'?! Mr Genesis P. Orridge (THE industrial E-rave-godhead) would not be pleased!

Crud these 'goth' compilations p*** me off - I've never consisdered quite afew of the bands on this one to be remotely 'goth' (Misfits, Ministry, Skinny Pup, Einsturende...) - where is the Eyes of the Nightmare Jungle, Blood and Roses, Virgin Prunes, UK Decay, Rosetta Stone, Rose of Avalanche, Into A Circle, Ritual, Getting The Fear, James Ray even!.........

Tis a cryin' shame
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?
