'but boy could he play guitar'
OK, Ed looks a bit rough, I do. We're same in the same age bracket.
Don't slag a true innovator (yeah I know about Joe Satriani).
V1 (as we called it) was and still is an amazing feat of hard rock in an Amerikan Stylee.
I saw them on the VII tour, Roth was a cock, Ed shone, Michael's bass was right in there and Alex is a great drummer.
Have I said enough?
Oh!.... one more thing - Ed has Parkinson's Disease.
Thank you.

It was just an observation
I'm not slagging him and also like Eddie I've had a hip replacement at a young age as well as other health issues. I also agree that he was/is a true innovator of the highest order.
I was just shocked by his recent appearance.
Actually I just observing that he's started wearing That Guitarist shirts.

You see, his problem was that he did it wrong. He lived fast and died old.
He's not dead yet, but you know what I mean...

Not nice to see him like that. It´s not like I am esepcially interested in their music, but anyway.
