Happy Birthday Libby

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

For a few minutes, I thought that my 34th birthday would turn out to be my last
Yesterday Joery, our friend Fox, my sister and I went to see Iggy and the Stooges. Not for the first time though. We also saw them last year, so we knew more or less what to expect.
My sister and I found ourselves excellent places at the first row. The men were standing a few rows behind us. It was a promising evening!

Iggy and the band appeared on stage and got loose right away. The crowd was heavy but the atmosphere was excellent 8) . 1969, tv eye, dirt, ... all came our way. But then after 5 or 6 songs, Iggy asked the people on stage as he always does. The security proved they were a lousy and completely incompetent bunch of amateurs.
Instead of pulling the people over the barrier and allow them to get on stage they kept on pushing them back. My sister and I are not very tall. There was no possibility for us to get out of that tricky situation. We were crushed by amounts of heavy bodies hardly able to breathe anymore. Extremely scary :? .
The 'security' :?: had no idea how to handle the situation. They were informed about what Iggy was up to so how is it possible they were not prepared better?
Anyway, Joery made it on stage with Iggy :D, Fox made it to the EHBO (first aid station) and got himself 19 stitches in his leg :( and my sister and I got it to the 1 o'clock news  We're bruised and blue all over our bodies but after the first shock we had a good laugh and a good drink. Things could have turned out worse.
No Marktrock for us anymore!!! A promise we made ourselves a few years ago already, but hey, for Iggy promises can be broken.

So.. Iggy, you're still great but the organisation made it no fun for us.
Next year come to rimpelrock

Roskilde? Pearl Jam?

Time for a DECENT security education, instead of hiring cheap workers for the festivals!

You're so right!!!
It crossed my mind too.
Can remember that day as if it was yesterday.
We had tickets for Werchter and Rotterdam the day after.
But then the tragedy of Roskilde occured.
I was in mourn for more than a week.
Gonna see PJ twice at the end of August but the loss of those nine people
will always stay in my mind.

Let's end with the words of Pearl Jam

When you agree to play at a festival of this size and reputation
it is impossible to imagine such a heart wrenching scenario.

Our lives will never be the same, but we know that is nothing compared to the grief of the families and friends of those involved.

It is so tragic ... There are no words.
