Idiot proof Bass playing.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Each line represents a string, but - get this - they're upside down from what you'd think. Anyway, the little numbers are which fret to use, with 0 being no fret.

Which fingers to use are up to you, just fall into whatever feels most comfortable and don't worry about whether it's the "right" way.

Then start slowly and don't be too ambitious about it. The first coupla times you might sound like an elephant farting, but keep at it and you'll get better.

Getting both hands working at the same time, and keeping a good rhythm going (ooooerrrr missues) could be very hard at first, so slow right down, concentrate on getting the notes right, and work at it at your own pace.

If you hit a wall with something, back off. Find something different. There's no point in frustrating yourself when you're only starting out.
Now THAT'S the kind of info I need :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: , thank you mh 8) , the "upside down thing" had thrown me & I've just figured the "numbers thing", I'm working on the Bass line on "EMMA" as it's quite slow.........move over Mr Adams

Norra botha.

Just took Emma for a spin, she's easy enough to master, so good choice for a first-timer! ;D

One last thing - expect your fingers to HURT afterwards. They'll toughen up though.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Yeah. Guitar used to hurt my fingers. Bass killed them.

But I love me bass.
So much so, that I think I'll keep it a 3-string one for the forseeable future.

It's the A string that I'm missing. ;)

I play chords or close notes on the top two, and occasionally an all-on-the-E-string part. :D

Try Fix then, it's an easy move to 2-stringers.
