13 is a good age for starting. I was 34 when I bought my first.. By the way-I needed half a year to find a setup for my guitar that would make it stop snarling as mad..weebleswobble wrote:I've just bought a cheapo starter electric guitar fae Argos for my eldest-13 on Wednesday . I only dream of guitars like those miraculous Myka thingies from the link above..
Well, I still have to learn playing a guitar properly before it´s worth thinking of a better guitar.

no electric for me. Started 2 years ago in the alternative music school based on chords. Will start 3rd year next week. Bougth myself for X-mas a simon and patrick with cutaway and prick-up.
front solid cedar
back and sidesred wild cherry
neck silver leaf maple
finish semi gloss
cutaway
electronics B-band A3.2 (quite good)
mostly place accoustic sometimes on my rolang microcube
Jolly good guitar with a suberb sound. Can easily match the sound of a guitar twice as expensive.
strings : elixir phosphor bronze nanoweb 0.11. Expensive but worth the money

"Argh! Ouch! It bit me!"
When I´m grown up, I want to have a Hagstrom Deluxe or Swede or one of those nice Gordon Smith guitars. Whenever I read reports about them their owners are enthiusiastic.
