Goth......

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Some of you may know me and thus know that Im in the porcess of moving, anyway I am going to be at some point getting rid of a lot of my vinyl, loke most of it bar about 100 pieces. Ive just slapped a record on, and to be honest I count remember when it was that I last played it, its the 12" of Another Million Dollers and it made me thing, its records like THIS whiy is why I love goth music so much.

so the question is, what record would you put on that would prompt the same reaction?

And this is NOT a thread to start slaggin off goths either!

UK Decay - Rising From The Dread EP.

It's all in there, everything you need to know about trad Goth.

Plus the songs are extremely good, which never hurts.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The track 'Torch' from the album Floodland, which is what made me a fan of The Sisters of Mercy and Goth in general.

my theory on goff is similar to my theory on philosophy: I like the teachers, not the students.

i never said they weren't James dear...but for me if you put on Dieche then you get why i enjoyed Goth so much...totally over the top art wank with far to much of a poseur for a frontman...way to Batcave and funny as f**k...that's why i enjoyed Goth

but if it's something to dance to then i need a little of Killing Jokes' song Change, X-Mal's Qual (12"), Sisters Floorshow and Bauhaus's Kick In The Eye to start me off...which equally says how much i enjoyed Goth back in the day

A lot of classics did it for me... Mostly singles/EPs, never really 'everything from a band' or a whole album.

John Foxx - Underpass, X-Mal - Incubus Succubus, Banshees - Dear Prudence, Bauhaus - She's In Parties, Human League, to name but a few...

And The Cure - A Forest of course ;)

Well, I have the New Wave Club Class-X CDs to blame, in short! :D
