Are any heartlanders into EBM? Goth and Industrial have a long history if friendship, but most heartlanders seem a bit too 'old school' to be interested in all this bleepy nonsence.
Anyway, this is not a EBM bashing thread, I'm just curious.
It also leads onto the question of will anyone be at VNV Nation on the 23rd?
Any EBMers out there?

What do you mean "old school" ? EBM started in the mid-80s IIRC, so that's not exactly new school.Maisey wrote:Are any heartlanders into EBM? Goth and Industrial have a long history if friendship, but most heartlanders seem a bit too 'old school' to be interested in all this bleepy nonsence.
There are some eletro-heads around here. Can you guess who they are ?
But I wouldn't necessarily describe the goth/indus (which is different from EBM BTW) relationship as one of "friendship". I remember some dark-whatever events where it was quite hard to please the two contingents at the same time. Skinny Puppy was a consensus choice, but there wasn't so many of them.

I realise that their is a difference betwenn trad industrial and electronic body music!
Of course its often hard to please 2 different crowds, but they do play togther in the same sandpit.
Anyway...I'm not sure I can guess the electro-heads (I love the way you put it!).

Nationalise the f**king lot.
I started out listening to electro/EBM when I was about 11-12 so I have a few albums in the shelf.
It started with DM, Kraftwerk and DAF then groups like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb and Front Line Assembly took over.

Yep (in answer to the first question). How dare you generalise about the state of HLers!Maisey wrote:Are any heartlanders into EBM? Goth and Industrial have a long history if friendship, but most heartlanders seem a bit too 'old school' to be interested in all this bleepy nonsence.

Unfortunately what cash I have will disappear in Amsterdam the week before VNV play, which is a bummer as they were bloody stonking in Sheffield last year (or was it this year). Have fun, it's hard not to. Jolly nice chaps too, bless.

and their child - Prodigy
and, of course, i like Scooter, but i'm not much into their new school EBMed clones kinda Funker Vogt etc. (Gerrit Thomas drinks beer with cola - crazy)
i'm too old for listening to them

Yeah. Haven't listened to it so much lately, but looking at my CD racks reveals Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Numb, Terminal Power Company etc.

Actually I am quite partial to a little EBM/techno goth/whatever its called, but after about an hour of, what sounds like the same track, I'm ready to stick the guilty DJ's pseudo-techno wank up his stupid arse.
Most EBM is abject bollocks. If I wanted rave I'd go to a rave and not a goth night. And you can stick your glow-sticks,wooly wigs, goggles and spandex up your arse.Cyber goths are wankers who are too old/fat/frightened to get into proper techno.
And as for all those bands that sound like Depeche mode?FFFS!!!!
EBM IS DEAD,FACT! And good bloody riddance,I say!!!!
Thanks for listening.None of this applies to Covenant,VNV nation,XPQ21 or Front 242 who make exceptionally fine music

The only electronic music I really listen to is Krautrock, minimalism, 80s synthpop, James Ray's stuff, and anything Genesis P-Orridge releases.
