Charts.....Who's at No 1?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

My Chemical Romance ,how do I know this little nugget of info?......I just read it on SKY NEWS  , I don't listen to the Charts on the Radio, I don't really care about the Charts at all, but I did like to moan at TOP OF THE POPS, I was getting used to sounding like my Dad, "It all sounds the same these days, is that a Lad or a Lass?, the Charts were a lot better in my day" , you know the score   , so where does new music get played?, where do young Pop acts promote their stuff?, is it all on "My Space"?, ...........I really miss TOTP :(

Miss it too, for much the same reasons (being a grumpy Dad, music was better than this in my day etc.). To be honest, I've not known - or cared - who's been at number one for years. I keep an eye out for her Madgesty, but that's about it.

...And let's face it, if MCR are at top spot, is it necessarily a Bad Thing that TOTP isn't on anymore..? Rip-off Queen riffs and wearing all-black might make you cool outside the Corn Exchange, but you wouldn't have stood a chance in my day, I tell you!

I firmly hope that the BBC will bring TOTP back.

I think my post may have been misconstrued. I don't think "pipe and slippers" is a bad thing.

Indeed not. My pipe is a rather groovy 'Ranger' pipe, as modelled by the rather fetching Aragorn in LOTR. Still working on the smoke rings though, I can manage a smoke cloud. Does that count?

You have an excuse for the pipe and slippers though Keef, at your age :P

What's always been genuinely alarming to me is that I've been doing the old pipe and slippers routine since the age of 10

I do genuinely feel I'm witnessing the decline of our civilisation when I watch some of the tripe that kids are listening to these days

Think that's a bit extreme? Watch this, READ THE COMMENTS, and THEN tell me we're not all fcuked.

Can't watch that cos I can't be arsed waiting for the thing to d/l, but I agree wholeheartedly regardless.

We are most definitely all fcuked. Revel in it. It's the only way

For those who don't wish to waste two valuable minutes of thumb twiddling time:

"This isn't emo, it is goth and they are two different things. This band is good but weird "

"goth-punk aka emo... goth is manson and cradle"

"Manson is not goth. Manson is emo. So, neh. And Aiden is emo trash. That's why I love it."

"wow dumbass Manson is goth and so is aiden. emo fags are gay if you are emo go listion to panic at the disco thats emo"

"manson=goth Aiden=goth emo=gay panic at the disco= emo=gay"

"They (Aiden) are really cool bunch of Goth Freaks that make killer music."

"aiden is considered gothic punk right?"

"gothic is just emo kids that are devil worshipers, and wear more makeup"

"You are a f**king idiot...
First, Goth came before emo. Being Emo is not about devil worship and all that s**t. That's pretty much for anti conformity people looking for attention.
Now, I ask you...
What the f**k were you on when your dog was telling you about emos and goths?"

"What is it ??? Blink 182 with make up !?" <- The voice of reason

"they are not EMO, they are Goth"

In response to Motz's post.

It really quite annoys me. People ask me “what kind of music do you like? I say “oh, well, I like a lot of genres, really., then they say “ha, you just say that because you have no personality, everyone has a favourite genre.

It really quite pisses me off, and then to prove them wrong I have to list so many f**king genres: minimalism, glitch music, industrial, industrial rock, goth, Detroit techno, classic rock, psychedelic rock, synthpop, old pop music, the occasional reggae tune, gnawa music, blues, Jazz, classical, punk, post-punk, Chicago house, and Brit-pop (the proper stuff - i.e. “Suede).

Music genres are for pigeon holing people and locating music quicker in stores.

Music is music. To lump certain bands together and say "I hate all of them" is pathetic. So yeah, I really do agree with Motz's post and have no idea why I am ranting...

TOTP is on, to some extent. They have one or two new releases on TOTP2 every week.

I've passed the p'n's bit and I'm on to Zimmer frames and drugs that keep me alive.
The British Broadcasting Corporation has denied various (new) Mums and Dads their turn of the "It all sounds the same these days, is that a Lad or a Lass?, the Charts were a lot better in my day" malarky.
And pray, just who is it in the Great British Isles that are paying the licence fee? I don't think we have to look too far.

Thank you.

I think I heard something about how he's going to "flunk math this semester".
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
