well, that the band doesn't give press interviews in this early stage isnt hardly surprising and doesnt exclude talks with record company executives.Michael aka Emilien wrote:THISbismarck wrote:The band did not reply to questions from the editorial staff.

So in short, Von will have to face reality and admit that fact that the Sisters is the kind of band that was famous more then two decades ago and that can only sell records to a larger public based on the image they had during their most successfull period. And we know how much he hates being put into a box ("No we're not goth, in the eighties we made gloomy music and wore black all the time just for the money"). And how he hates being measured by the output of the early daze. He assumes to be in a rock-n-roll band. I dunno. If Mute couldn't...bismarck wrote:It is dedicated to working exclusively with established artists from all musical genres, and will offer a bespoke home to iconic names.
I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven. Can you hear it? It's like when you put your head to the grass and you can hear the growin' and you can hear the insects.

Top find!
He may be crap at getting records out, but he sure does do a good job of flattening conf directories!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

My fave Yes albums are Relayer, Drama and The Ladder, which all have one thing in common with your fave above- no fuckin' Wakeman. But we digress.James Blast wrote:at least two mentions of the Yes, so this is a ProgRock Forum afterall, reet gradley!
IMO they never bettered The Yes Album
I also note to my gratification the people who seem to dig Kate Bush and Van Der Graaf Generator around here.

Drama - excellent! I don't mind Wakeman, he's quite a character. Down to earth guy unlike some people in the biz.H. Blackrose wrote: My fave Yes albums are Relayer, Drama and The Ladder, which all have one thing in common with your fave above- no fuckin' Wakeman.

Since the topic of a new album has been raised again, I'll open this can of worms again too:
I think there are only a few of of the "new songs" that are album-worthy: Summer, Susanne, Romeo Down and maaaaybe Will I Dream? But Slept, Still, Come Together, War On Drugs... these are B-sides at best. And Crash And Burn strikes me as the A-Side of a single... it's maybe the best "new" track, but somehow not an album track. I know there must be other songs not yet played live, and I hope they're great beause an album of the 10 or so "new songs" we all know would be something of a disappointment after so long a wait.
The 10 "new songs" also lack the sense of belonging together that we've come to expect and love from a Sisters album... The 3 real studio albums they've (he's) released so far have struck a remarkable balance between thematic cohesion and eclecticism: none is a "concept album," but each somehow revolves around its own particular emotional center. Only a few of them "new songs" seem to "belong" together (really, the same 4 tracks I mentioned above: Summer, Romeo, Dream? and Susanne). Am I alone in thinking this?
I'll be thrilled with any new album, no matter what the tracklist is. But of course some potential tracklistings woiuld be better than others. Here's hoping for the best one...

A dj who worked in the 90s told he once had a rough 'Summer' studio version.
I find him intelligent not to lie about it. I wasn't also poking, he just said: 'the last i heard about the sisters was that Summer unmastered version.'
Did he dream?

guns & cars & accidents
I think it's fair and reasonable to say that everyone's opinion on the "new songs" will be different. I think Will I Dream is unmitigated tripe, for inst, whereas I love Come Together and War on Drugs (and deffo think either is much stronger LP material than WID).
If anything does happen, I wouldn't be surprised if there was 2 LPs (released in quick succession) or a double.
So... Summer is the new TC demo, is it?

if this is right and a recod company has approached von then he should take their arm off! unless he is, as has been said, suffering a complete lack of confidence he's unlikely to get a better chance than this.
also, how long are bandmembers going to hang around without the prospect of releasing records? certainly not forever!
it's up to him but time is running out for him i think. people are getting sick of waiting.

and he really should acknowledge his fans a tiny bit more! just a quick update on the official site. enigmas do tend to become just like watching paint dry after a while. a lot of effort for no return...
