So, what think you of Madge's new wean then?
Personally, I find it deeply disturbing. Why can she not give money to the little boy's living relatives, or wider community, so that he can be raised with them? Instead of bringing the poor little thing into a world of paparazzi and Hello magazine spreads?
I don't have anything huge against people adopting from other countries per se, but IMO this is deeply, deeply selfish and thoughtless, bordering on cruel.
Discuss.

I agree, poor daddy (allegedly) is broken hearted and a wee bit confused. I was nearly crying when I read an interview with him.
The whole thing is complete sh8t look at the press attention now, it will never stop.
She could have given a shedload to the wee boy/family/village/country. If she wants to adopt go through due process, it all seems like a f**king fashion accessory with these celebs
I hope the wee boy will be happy, that is the main thing regardless. But if he were mine and this had happened, I'd be broken hearted forever

*nod* Very scary stuff.
Apparently she said "We wanted to help one child have a better life" (Or words to that effect...) and... what? The rest of the kids arn't good enough? The adults don't deserve a better life too?
If this was anything other than a sick stunt, I'm sure she could have had the kid brought to her *without* publicity.

Another concern is the fact she has two kids who are a) genetically her own, and b) look like her kids, they are the same race.
Please don't get me wrong, in theory there is absolutely nothing wrong with someone adopting a child of another race, but the reality is that her own children will notice the difference and question it... they may pick on the adoptive child because he's so outwardly different.
Kids can be wonderfully accepting and blind to race, but they can also be horrendously intolerant and cruel, ganging up on another kid based on their differences. That could be hard enough for this child at school, but within his own family, I don't know how Madge can ensure her older kids will not take the attitude of "Everyone knows she's not really YOUR mum".
And it also begs the question - WHY did she need to adopt if she has kids of her own? I'd ask that of anyone who did this - the main concern being for the "outsider" child. It seems to me she wants to feel, as avery rich and famous woman, that she's "putting something back", doing something good.
In essence, bringing that kid into the melee that is her life to appease her conscience for being so priviledged.

If poor daddy was so heartbroken, he could I presume, have said no. It's no different than those UK mothers who go shopping for orphans in Romania, Bulgaria etc when there are plenty of British children in need of a home.
I really cant take seriously any arguement that a child will regret being raised in a multi-millionairess' vast mansion occupying about a quarter of Hampshire and given the best of everything and an assured future than most likely dying at around fourty in Malawi.

The man's wife and two other young children had died of malaria. He signed over his child to the childrens home fearing he would die without the proper care.DeWinter wrote:If poor daddy was so heartbroken, he could I presume, have said no. He still managed to visit the wee lad even though he had to travel miles to do so (parents tend to do things like that)
I'd love to have a go at your second point but I'm off home now to cuddle my own waens-suffice to say I don't agree with your take on it

Life in a Malawi orphanage is unlikely to be much of a giggle. Given the choice between that and Madonna, you'd have to be insane to choose life in Malawi. She's given a child a way out of what would most likely be painfully short and miserable future. I tend to look at that rather than the other issues.

that little girl from her fitness trainer hasnt got the same skin colour as her son from the director chap either. I honestly think we don't have to worry much about racial intolerance within the Richie-Family.

The racism issue aside, this is definitely an issue in some families with both adopted and biologically "natural" children.boudicca wrote:I don't know how Madge can ensure her older kids will not take the attitude of "Everyone knows she's not really YOUR mum".
On the other hand, how well-adjusted their children turn out largely comes down to Madonna and Guy Ritchie's skills as parents; I'm unwilling to judge these skills based on sensationalist press reporting.

I don't get it, others have to wait half their lives to get a chance at adopting a child, without even having a chance of seeing it before it lands on your local airport, and she just picks a random kid and takes it home the next week.
Quite outrageous indeed, I'd say! No good for her, no good for the kid. Wonder what they'll do when the two years term has come to an end...
