Very Interesting news re New Sisters recorded material

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Nice job, Trevor. Very nice. I've been poking around but quiet for months and months......nice post to come back and read.

I share your slice of optimism. I retain hope. That's all we can do. A lot of people in a lot of states and countries paid up to see Von and the new version (5.0., 5.1, 6.0, whatever) of the band. And of course, this last massive tour is either a last hurrah / gauge of interest just in case sort of thing. We have no idea. The few interviews that turned up revealed more of the same.

But if a record company is actually coming TO The Sisters, then that's Opportunity. Since the majors have been pretty uninterested, something like this W14 business sounds about right.

Without muscle to promote and distribute a new release, there will be no new Sisters releases, or else we'd have had numerous albums. It's always about it being 'worthwhile doing'.

But it sounds good. Positive. In the meantime, hope, albums (re-issues, too), and bootlegs....

So (youngbrain) you think he's on the verge of crossing the line from terribly mysterious to boring twit?

This is probably his last real chance to do it as anything other than an indie label. Personally, I think he should have followed Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and Merle f**king Haggard to ANTI/Epitaph. They've all done well there, they have complete creative control and a good degree of promotion; it's practically a major label. I'm sure they would have snapped Von up...7 or 8 years ago.

Let's hope, if it is true, he doesn't screw it up.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

i do. there's only so long you can do nowt and expect people to be interested in it. the odd tour excepted, of course. i don't know how many of my friends have little to no interest in the sisters when they used to love them to bits. a shiny new disc of storming thumpers would go some way to putting that right. at least it would give me something to push at them sisters-wise! they just laugh at me now!

"ha, the sisters," they chortle,"are they still going?"

Hot News:

Crash & Burn has been selected as the startup jingle for the upcoming Windows Vista. However, since Eldritch is waiting for GNU Hurd to be released so he can upgrade the Doctor, Microsoft has to push the deadline ever forward.
In the meantime, he's playing beta versions of Duke Nuke'm Forever to bide his time.

And I thought the hot news was that Eldritch has left the band, but The Dr is going to keep going

Obviously the Doc was too difficult to work with. He was so cold and aloof, almost mechanical, requiring the other band members to write their bits and send them to him for the drums.

Last I heard Eldritch is going to try and record as the sisterhood, but the Doktor isn't going to go down without a fight, his recent live experience on bass has lead him to recording a somewhat predictable drum n' bass project to stop Von using the name.

I heard Doc was working Johnny 5 since he gave up acting in Short Circuit. I was wrong.
