What's next? Evanescence covering 1959?
Seriously though...did Von ever give his seal of approval to Cradle of Filth's cover of No Time to Cry?
G*** tested, Von approved.

They don't need his approval as long as it's a cover and not a remix. So there's nothing he can do about it.Enid wrote: Seriously though...did Von ever give his seal of approval to Cradle of Filth's cover of No Time to Cry?

I always thought this is one of the best sisters covers ever done (along with The Shroud's female vocal with violin accompaniment take on Alice). Its nice to hear a totally different version, not the usual attempt to out-Eldo Eldritch at his own game. CoF put some nice aggression & atmospherics into it. Okay so Dani is an self-obsessed pathetic little dweeb, and most CoF lyrical content is laughable ill-informed cod-satanic b*ll*cks for wannabe damaged teenagers but they sometimes make a good noise! In my humblest opinion of course....
Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?
i have to agree on that - cof's version removes a the low-mood style and really adds something to some parts. all in all it is cock rock (or hair metal) disguised in black. funny video although, nice to watch after a few beers once a year between grace jones and dead kennedys......deadagain wrote:I always thought this is one of the best sisters covers ever done (along with The Shroud's female vocal with violin accompaniment take on Alice). I have Cradle to thank for getting me into the Sisters in the first place, so no complaints here!

Being something of a Cradle fan (I ADORE their 1996 album Dusk & Her Embrace & tried to adore every other album... but struggled) I really despise their cover of NTTC. Dunno why, just plain don't like it.
Sod the album its on, its rubbish, go buy Dusk & Her Embrace for some real Filth!!!

I can't STAND CoF, but that's just me. I think Dani Filth sounds like Beavis on speed....it's pretty amusing, but it wears thin after awhile. I saw the stupid shock rock video for their cover of No Time to Cry on youtube.com, and I wanted to cry.
I think if you're gonna cover a Sisters song, you better be sure you know damn well what you're doing.
Alright, there's another Kate Bush fan here! Now SHE should cover 1959.

CouPh, you say?
well, i like their cover
anyway, it sounds far much better than those numerous songs on tributes
maybe, only Paradise Lost did the best other cover i've heard
i think the best Cradle's songs are covers: No Time To Cry, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Death Comes Ripping
i can't watch/listen other of their songs - there too much blood and dirty pampers

Explain Gimme Shelter then? Covers are ace when they're done right, and CoF's takes on Hell Awaits and that Maiden number are definitely done right. So I was mildly (to put it mildly) disappointed with their, imho, totally wank version of NTTC. I'm still to hear a decent cover of a Sisters track.James Blast wrote:nature should not be tampered with

They did a good job on it too, didn't they! Not sure about the slightly rearranged words though.Motz wrote:Time's circular. The Stones tampered with nature

To slightly move away from NTTC for 2 seconds. Best Sisters cover for me was the band that covered Floorshow on one of those Sisters Tribute CD's. Can't remember their name. Same CD that had Darkside Cowboys do F&L&A thrash metal style.Planet Dave wrote:Explain Gimme Shelter then? In other news: CoF have done a cover of The Heaven 17's Temptation
