I'm not Hungarian, but i have lived here for nearly 6 years.
Great place & lovely people.
But, the black market here has all but killed the economy & the govt has had to impose some heavy taxes on people to try getting something back in the bank.
Then the PM admits to the fact that the govt has lied to the country to get elected.
So, there are riots in Budapest & protests all over the country.
But, the people protesting (on the whole) are the stupid f*cks who ballsed up the economy in the first place by not declaring their taxes & taking cash in hand payments.
Any other Magyars on the forum?
Any Hungarians out there?

Is this a bad time to say that I f**king love your prime minister?
From 1000 miles away, his Machiavellian evil is quite entertaining, and he looks like Vladimir Putin's even-more-Slavic brother Sorry, I know it's all very well to talk like that when he's not our Prime Minister (ours just lies but never admits it ).
I've never been to Hungary but I would love to go. Thought I would be actually, this winter... Budapest. It looks like a beautiful city

Being brave is coming home at 2am half drunk, smelling of perfume, climbing into bed, slapping the wife on the arse and saying,"right fatty, you're next!!"

‎"We will wear some very loud shirts. We will wear some very wrong trousers."
To be honest, I think that was a (without wanting to sound like a quote from Yes Minister) a very brave thing to do (admit to lying).
Thing is, the taxes are now v harsh & prices are rising daily, but the morons driving around with Hungarian flags on their cars all seem to be driving Jeeps, BMWs & Mercs.
They must really be suffering, no?
W**kers!!
Debs. Back in one piece & camped out by the mailbox
The rioters stole a tank from an open air museum.
If anyone wants to visit Hungary, drop me a line & we can meet up.
I don't live in Budapest though (thank f*ck), but is is a beautiful city.

Same the world over. The rich arséholes that can afford to pay for accountants end up paying less tax than us honest working Joes.Pista wrote:Thing is, the taxes are now v harsh & prices are rising daily, but the morons driving around with Hungarian flags on their cars all seem to be driving Jeeps, BMWs & Mercs.

Cnut.Wiki wrote: In 1999, The Economist reported that [Rupert] Murdoch had made £1.4 billion ($2.1 billion) in profits over the previous 11 years but had paid no net corporation tax. It further reported, after an examination of what was available of the accounts, that Murdoch would normally have expected to pay a corporate tax of approximately $350 million. The article explained that the corporation's complex structure, international scope and use of offshore havens allowed News Corporation to avoid tax.
