Opeth?
I've seen the T-Shirts, but have never actually heard them, are they any good?

if you like folk....if you like prog...if you like death metal....you'll love folky death proggy metal heros Opeth! if you don't, then leave them alone.scotty wrote:I've seen the T-Shirts, but have never actually heard them, are they any good?
each song lasts about 10 mins. excellent musicianship, really soft harmonies when clean singing, very low gruff vocals when shouting. i just missed out on seeing them in london few days ago (paradise lost were supporting! ARSE!) but i'm sure they'd kick the proverbial when they're live.
i can't recommend any albums cos i only own one, but i really like the song "face of melinda" on still life. so still life might be worth a go. the album i have, blackwater park, is ok, but i only listen to a couple of tracks from it.

They are good. I saw them this summer and was surprised about there live performance.
Be aware if you are to try a song/record, they do a lot of different stuff, from very soft guitare sound to quite hard metalish.
I would recommend the Damnation album, or the new one Ghost reveries

Opeth are f**king excellent, I would recommend the album "My arms, your hearse" (weird title but excellent album)
I don't know what all the fuss is about PL supporting Opeth, they lost it during "Draconian Times" as far as I'm concerned

Ah, now they're looking discernably metahl again there, I was remembering this:
Like Samson, they appear to be literally fading away before our eyes there, following the shearing of their hair. Or they've just misplaced the bottom halves of their bodies, as I'm sure we've all done at one point or another.
Disturbing on many levels. And they do look awfully like Boyzone.

James, I really think you should give them a go
i thought the album "host" was ok, very depeche modey but damn good effort. after that i can't get their new stuff at all. in one ear and out the other.Brideoffrankenstein wrote:Opeth are f**king excellent, I would recommend the album "My arms, your hearse" (weird title but excellent album)

I read some-ones review of an Opeth album on another forum.First of all I assumed it was a mis-spelling of Opus("Live is life").Realising I was wrong I read on and it kept referring to the vocals as being both Clean and death.I mean WTF?Do they mean by clean that they don't say f**k or bugger?By Death vocals do they mean Deaf as in the same way Morrisey and that bird with the long head out of M-people sound like Jack Ashley?
Anyway never heard anything by Opeth so I really havn't a clue. But it sounds like they could well be rubbish. And they look like spooky kid corperate goth to me.

The songs probably all go like this:
HAAAAAUUUUGHHHH! RARRR! GRAAAUGGHHHH RAUUUGHHHHH HRAAAAGGGHHHHHH!!!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
