Soul Seek - Who?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I have just "joined" Soul Seek - The P2P network - is anybody here a member ?

If any of you are - what is your "member/login" name ?

I've tried to join, but can never seem to log on...

Don't know where I'm going wrong, I just hit the "connect" button and nothing happens for a while and then it say "failed to connect".

I can connect fine to Kazaa but it's dog slow and dodgy as fuc*

It takes a while to connect sometimes. More so with the latest version so it seems. If you've entered a login name and a password it will log you in automatically the next time you start it. The "scanning for files" thing can take a while. Always used to be really quick when I ran WinME, but takes a lot longer now I'm on WinXP. If you get that Failed To Connect, close it and start it again, you will probably connect.

Also sometimes the server is down. If you click on the Web button and scroll down the page, there is an option to check the server status.

Are you letting it through your firewall? That could be the problem as well?

hmmmmm. I use it at work so I'll try download the latest version on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday!) and give it another bash.

I don't think it's a firewall issue. I've got no ports blocked as far as I know and I think our only "firewall" we're is using NAT, which may cause problems as I don't connect public IP to public IP but I don't think it's that as my friend is the biggest Soul Seek whore and also has NAT on his office network.

Having read the posts I can "login" fine - I do have one problem though - how the hell do i search for individual users - such as "cellthree" - all I ever seem to get are groups with the number of users

Any suggestions per chance.....

In the user list, rightclick, add user and type in my name EXACTLY as it is written here : CellThree

With the capitals and everything. Once I'm in there, rightclick my name if I'm online and you'll be able to read my user info and load my file list.

New version slsk149 is out now. Nir (the guy who writes it) has redone the search bit cause the one of the previous version was s**t.
