Thank You Scotty

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm buying me a fallout shelter and about 20 years supply of tinned food.

Just on the off-chance that Nostradamus knew what he was talking about after all.

I'm getting scared...
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Dear Scotty,

Last night I was trying to set up a Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP web-server from the command line. I got FC6 installed fine, but when I was installing apache (1.3.37) I couldn't get it to configure using the Non-SSL Dynamic Shared Objects installation method. "Make Install" kept throwing up errors, almost as if I was missing a C compiler. Any help you can give would be gratefully received

Regards,

Paul

Dear Paul,

Kick it in the groin as if there were no tomorrow.

Regards,

Scotty.

(PS: I see the problem, tho... Look at the serial number of your Apache. "1.3.37" spells "1337" and we all know that doesn't work for a metre...;) )

Hi Paul,

Mmmm...........that's a difficult one, I think I can see your problem, go back to when you successfully installed FC6, a rather fine programme if you don't mind me saying, and try THIS, I think it'll solve your little problem.
Any more queries Paul, don't hesitate to ask.

Keith.

I can just picture the rest of the students running screaming from the room, as clouds of smoke billow out of the door.

And that's only from when he puts his Wake DVD on... :innocent:
