Wow, an update on the cure site. I'd given up completely.
I guess its cos Fiction went kapoot.

Scardwell, what are the 'hidden extras' mentioned on the box?
And whereabouts are you on the DVD?

I'd almost let myself forget about Fat Bob:
Think I'll go home & listen to it all again (except that silly mood swings thing)
(Is he still married to Mary?)

The Cure,,,, Hmm maybe you guys would give me some links/advise, to what i should look for when it comes to the cure.
I love "A forest" and "burn", but never got around to explore the band, (because MTV spoiled my impression of em in the 90`s.
I mean; gimme some good titles thats worth checking out:))) PLZ....

I'll get slaughtered for saying this, but the best two cure albums are the two singles collection:-
Staring at the sea (singles 1979 - 1986)
Galore (singles 1987 - 1997)
Their bestest studio album, in my opinion, is 'Disintigration'.

The singles collections are a good starting point I suppose. If you like the darker Cure sound, the 'Faith' and 'Pornography' albums are well worth investigating, and 'Disintegration' is regarded by most fans as their masterpiece. The one to avoid IMHO is "Wild Mood Swings" which is far too "pop" for my taste.

Disintergration is great. But don't let anyone put you off Wish (a fantastic album) or Wild Mood Swings (patchy but fun). Their earlier stuff is quite different and an acquired taste (imho).

pah!
its the same way as getting into any band:
get the two "best of" singles albums (or at least the 1st one) and have a few listens.
work out which tracks you like the sound & feel of best, then get the albums with those tracks on.
give them a few more listens and you'll either love fat bob or loathe him.
if you love him, then you will probably want ALL the other albums anyways as cure fans tend to be just as obsessive as sisters fans
if you loathe him, sell them on ebay

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
i know quite a lot of people who are or has been Cure fans. i never understood them until i heard "17 seconds" album. then somebody said that if you like that album you have to listen to "Pornography" but it wasn't so impressive for me. actually i'm rather such a guy who asks the same question as Nightspawn
ive always liked faith and pornography the best but for some reason i still pull out the silly albums like the top and japanese whispers and dance around stupidly
the problem with the later cure in my opinion is that albums like kiss me kiss me... and bloodflowers have had around 2 standout tracks and the rest average compared to the earlier ones which you can listen to non stop. Its strange but the entire pornography album just reminds me of one big song- still good though

The Cure became famous for their later indie stuff but their first 2 albums are quite punky; pornography is a very overlooked classic and Fat Bob is one of the best 2 lyricists in the genre (even if he never did learn how to put his lippy on!).
(Hmm, 20 years of my life in 3.5 lines.)
I would avoid the mood swings album, I listened to it once & I'm still in therapy.

Thanks, but I'd already found the 'easter eggs' (after about 2 hours of messin' about)
kinda dissapointing - I thought the hidden extras would include all the songs they played in the encore, but no.
Anyone know why only two of the 4 encore songs are on the disc?
LOL

There were actually 7 encores on the second night (yes I was there too). The were: If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, The Kiss, M, Play For Today, A Forest, Grinding Halt and Boys Don't Cry.
And I remember the cameras stopped filming after A Forest.

only the "official" ones...Scardwel wrote: And I remember the cameras stopped filming after A Forest.
Pornography has got to be the best. I know I have mentioned b 4 if not for that album I would not have made it thru my teenage years. Faith comes in 2nd.
