Question -> Joy Division bootlegs

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Anyone know a good site where I can download some JD bootlegs?

Also, when is the film coming out? what's it called? (I know there's a thread around here somewhere...)

Being brave is coming home at 2am half drunk, smelling of perfume, climbing into bed, slapping the wife on the arse and saying,"right fatty, you're next!!"

I got JD's Closer from Soulseek - as an electronic copy of the purple boxed cassette original I've got. To my mind if I own the originals on casette or vinyl it's not dodgy to fileshare!

It's still illegal though. not that anyone really gives a s**t.

If you hop on the X5 (or whatever the bus is) to Cambridge and go to Fopp, you can pick up most of the Joy Division back catalogue for a fiver a CD as well as shedloads of other decent CDs.

If you happen to pop into The Bear on the High Street there Esox, tell Darren (barman) I said hello!

They've worked with Corbijn more than once over the years and I'm sure they'll work it out.

Can't wait 'till CONTROL hits theatres!

As I recall, there was (still is? I can't remember the URL though) a forum that QB set up for Joy Division, but he decided not to put weeding / trading etc on there as he thought it more likely to get raided by the Kopyright Kops.

Haven't been in the Bear for years - not since getting chucked out in '93 for annoying the bar staff by asking for another double JD as soon as they'd brought the change back from the last one - twice. Ended up passing out in the gents in Esquires, being dragged unconscious under the door (through all my own, hopefully, vomit) by the bouncer, and wasting an NHS mattress sleeping it all off. I then threw up in the taxi on the way home next morning. In my defence I was very, very drunk.

Being Esquires, I doubt it.

I didn't think that being blind drunk in Esquires was enough to get thrown out. Surely they'd just get you consious and sit you at the bar so you can buy another drink.

Alas, the place is now a shadow of its former self. I last went either end of the last year or beginning of this one and it was almost empty on a Saturday night. I guess times have changed. it still does ok when they have gigs on though as far as I know.

I remember back in the day *gets misty eyed* spending all Friday afternoon in The Bear (well ok, all week), hitting Esquires for the rest of the night and going through it all again on a Saturday. Had some good times there.

I can count the amount of times I have been into Bedford town centre on one hand in the past 18 months now. It's just turned into a Towny paradise.

But at least I left Bedford then 4hrs later, the country! Hoorah!

The bouncer who dragged me out was Danny (who was later murdered) and he was a top bloke as my mates said he only dragged me out so I could go to hospital to be checked over. Talk about getting misty eyed reminds me of THE Bedford Pub back in the day - The Angel. Where I first heard Temple of Love and saw girls with purple hair...good times. Nowadays they should put a sign up as you enter Bedford saying "Welcome to Bedford - Sponsered by Burberry".

I vaguely remember Danny, he seemed a good guy.

The Angel was a great venue. It was a shame when that closed. They've opened a new venue on The Broadway and called in The Angel in tribute, but its just a little dive with a bad sound system. About the same size as Winkles (or The Limehouse or whatever it's called at the moment...oh, it's The pad isn't it?).

I was trying to forget about winkles..my older brother and his mates took me there when I was 16 or 17 and I had some bloke dancing right in front of me/to me with practically just a string vest on. My older brother stepped in front to save my embarassment and the bloke just moved closer and started grinding against him. My brother looked round for help to find we'd scarpered. My brother went back another time (again on gay night - apparantly unaware) with the village (Blunham!) nutter to meet his goth girlfriend Cathy and the nutter got involved in a fight and ended up in hospital after six burly gays picked him up and posted him through Lurke Street Car Park's Guard Hut window. Ahh, those were the days! Don't suppose you know Matt Dobrashian from the bear days do you?!

No, probably a bit before my day I think. I frequented the Bear from about 1993 onwards.
