Sisters torrents/peer to peer.

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. I have yet to see any torrents etc of The Sisters' remastered cd's on the net.
Would this be a sign of their diminishing popularity?

Or a sign of a loyal fan base. Those who've heard about the releases by now probably aren't the kind to throw them straight up as torrents and given the geek-filled core following of the Sisters, those who find out later won't be the ones who are capable of doing so.

i downloaded floodland and falaa from a torrent file i found on soulseek. It was a german site, and quite full of people seeding it. Cant recall it now.

The last NMA and FotN CD went straight on torrent sites (before the release date I think). Don't they also have a loyal, geeky fan base.

The first and third release can be found on Demonoid but release number two is still difficult to find and I haven't seen it anywhere yet.

Got into them and since bought everything I could get my hands on :D

I have FLACed up the re-releases, purely for backup purposes (no, really!) but I wouldn't upload them. It would be biting the hand that feeds IMO. Or at least biting the hand that fed 15 to 25 years ago...

Seconded! And if it's for "not affordable" reasons: there's plenty of non-official Sisters stuff on the net to download, so there's no need for official stuff to be available.

FLAC...sooo much better than MP3, but destined to be the beta-max of audio compression I fear.

Anyhooo....I have no problems with sharing/torrets of live gigs or demos, but not official releases. That's just very, very wrong on so many levels.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

i'm liking the FLACC thing but still prefer MD,
surely a contender for the Beta-Max of the audio world?

Yeah, I have a minidisc deck (and a MD walkman) that are pretty much unused these days. MD uses lossy compression by the way.

It's a crying shame too, cos MD was the right product (portable robust digital audio format) but at the wrong time (cheap flash memory was just around the corner).

Like others, I prefer to have the real thing, but have no issues with giving copies to folks. If they like it they'll probably buy at some point, and the band will have gained a fan they wouldn't have had otherwise. If they don't like it, they save their money by not buying something they were at least curious about. Everybody wins.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I think it's still quite a good solution for live recordings and interviews. I just wish my MD walkman had a decent built-in mike. Wires are so inconvenient. :roll:
