Blasphemous rumours: Walk Away by... Ben Christo

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hey, Christo could be a nice geek and more... respect for a young guy playing in a classic band... but after seeing this... he betrays the sisters!

Mr Whammy wouldn't do such things...

I think it sounds pretty good, for a cover.

It's a bit cheesy, but maybe he realises that a small but dedicated group of Sisters fans may attend a gig he plays, because he's been a hired gun with the sisters. Why not give them a nice cover?

Although, now that I think about it, this guy has probably played almost as many gigs as a sisters guitarist as some of the others - the Silver Bullet tour has probably made him a seasoned Sisters axeman.

its metal - if you like it or not (me not).
anyhow, ben contributed a lot of very nice music to the sisters, as he is a damn fine guitar player.

one should keep in mind that rating a performance by a video of that quality is ruther complicated....

I don't particularly mind it. It's a nice way of paying tribute to the band that have probably given him one of the most mindblowing experiences, as well as to any fans who may have been present. He sure as hell doesn't need to ask my permission to cover a song he likes.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

To cover a song he likes from a band he is in :?:

If anything his enthusiasm is fantastic given the history of people not releasing things :innocent:

I guess this young energetic nice fellow is supposed to stick to one band only.....A band that is a part time job....

Better recording quality would make this sound a lot better.

It might fire Mr. E into method, Pearson/Varjak/Starling had no effect.
He's a year younger than me so I know the 'approaching 50' blues - you want to go out in a blaze of glory!
Youth around you helps.
Christ Beno's "stunt guitar" on the last tour was a hi-light for me, it brought some old tunes gasping and splutteringly back to life.

All the above is IMO, of course. :|

Wow, i think the cover is appropriately irreverend (if that's how that word is spelled). i liked it, from what i could hear, as of course it's very hard to say about that recording. Would be nice to hear a better quality version.

And what's wrong with the girl? Not dressed in enough black?

In or works for? How many of the musicians (post 1985) who have been associated with the band have actually been "in", and not just employees.

Probably shouldnt take the bait, but yes I would like to think Ben is getting paid for his efforts and maybe even writing songs (Still?). I think himself and robochrist bring much needed new energy to the band and are a pleasure to watch and listen to.
Oh and according to the official site ...............

The Sisters Of Mercy are Andrew Eldritch vocals
Doktor Avalanche drums etc
Nurse nurse to the Doktor
Chris Catalyst guitar and backing vocals
Ben Christo guitar and backing vocals

I think most of them have been genuinely in, but Yvonne has a fairly relaxed policy towards extra-curricular work.
