I like it, plus you always get about a dozen remixes, some good some complete toss.
But you will not want to speak to me about it as I downloaded them

I've listened to it a few times on youtube, and I like it.
Not sure it quite deserves its place on the Best of album (which I won't be buying for one song).

Best of Depeche mode?f**k me is that the world's shortest album or what?I believe it contains only the silences between the tracks on the albums.
The photographs of God I bought have almost faded away

Indeed, I forked out £2 and bought it on cd single. You sir are still up against the wall in this matter. But you will not want to speak to me about it as I downloaded them
I did just download the whole of WAT in responce to the Laibach thread, the difference being that if it has more than 3 or 4 good tracks I'll buy it
I personally think Martyr is pretty good, not uber special, but lisenable, I actually think it would have sat nicely on playing the angel. Possibley in place of 'Nothings Impossible' or one of the other drone on tracks. It just goes to show DM are alive an kicking.
Who doesn't actually Depeche Mode? Even Von likes them, and he doesn't like anything at all. I find it hard to understand how von could shamefacedly approve of a band that a) doesn't take itself too seriously, b) is nice to its audience, even the goths, c) makes albums and releases singles etc in betwee and d) puts on awesome live shows (I am biased on that last one, having only seen them at the recent) astoria show and seeing the epic DM hyde park gig a month later)
Nationalise the f**king lot.

I had many chances to buy Playing The Angel on vinyl, nobody in Lincoln bought the few vinyl copies we had..Maisey wrote:I doubt it to be honest, but it might be. Playing the angel was a pain to get hold of on vinyl, but it was printed.
Me included, sadly.

It's not the best, they've lost a bit of their touch since Alan Wilder left.

Martyr sucks
just a s**t mainstream rock
i don't like it
excuse me, who does, please
PS i'm already Depeche fan for 16 years, i've grown with it; but the band's condition for last 8 years is awful
His Baldiness is far more better, if being compared with his past skills

I'm not so keen on Martyr either.Playing the angel was not bad,well... i only fell asleep after 8 tracks .Exciter was a postive fresh mood album,a few good songs, but the whole album:one of the worst DM's.Ultra for me was their last great album.ormfdmrush wrote:Martyr sucks

But great respect anyway to DM.Surely to mister Gahan, suffered from drugs addictions,he was almost dead.

a LOT of their touch.
Martyr is ok, much of the album is curious considering Fletch is their manager I'm really wondering whom is responsible for the music on Playing The Angel as it's back to the synths rather than guitars. I've rumors, rumors mind this album was phoned in. I don't believe that for a second but it's the first time I've heard anyone say something like that about them.
I lost interest when Wilder left but would give them a fair listen when they released something new. Still one of the best tours I EVER saw was Music For Masses in Dec/87.
End of line.

Ultra is good, the best of the non Wilder albums by far, but still nowhere as good as the two albums that preceded it.ormfdmrush wrote:Ultra is good
Just another FYI about the Greatest Hits Vol 1.
This is a greatest hits of the remasters that are out currently, they still have 5 albums more to remaster hence the absence of tracks from Black Celebration et all.
