Forget the Uni and come here for the drugs
Worked for me.

The Department of Politics was cool.
Great campus too.
And in case you're wondering, you can both get a degree and get stoned.

for me, leeds these days seems to be more geared towards the trendy "funky house" scene and the retro 70/80s NYC scene - most of the big club nights and most of the groovy bars seem to cater for these crowds, and even the shops seem heavily biased to a very specific type of customer
manchester is large enough to support these scenes, and still have a strong rock & alternative scene
leeds and manchester are both cool cities, its just that these days i'm favouring manchester as its larger and can thus support a more varied night life, and there's more going on generally
depends on what course you're doing too. some unis have better reputations for certain courses.
but i'd deffo consider either leeds or manc...

Qb has it right. If i didn't come from MCR, I'd have gone there to 'study'. As it was i came to Leeds, am still here, but MCR is where it's at.

yeah do it. it is generally very pleasant, reasonable£ and the 'student life' is hard to beat as it has the highest number of students/head of population in the country and they all live in the same place!

As a proud Yorkshire man living in Leeds (though I did live in Manchester for 10 years) I have to agree with Quiff & Planet. Manchester is a far better city than Leeds (Don't shoot me Norm... I still hate Man United!!!).Planet Dave wrote:Qb has it right. If i didn't come from MCR, I'd have gone there to 'study'. As it was i came to Leeds, am still here, but MCR is where it's at.
Was there this weekend just gone & I'd forgotten just how huge & varied it was.
But, Leeds is still great so I'd recommend it. No idea about how good the Uni is though as I didn't go.

You could always try Wolverhampton Uni.
I really have no idea why though.Apart from you could get pissed at Hex-in-the-city @The Giffard arms every Saturday night (9pm-2am upstairs) www.hexinthecity.co.uk which is now the West Midlands only weekly G*th night.
Apart from that, move along sonny there's nothing for you here.

Do NOT try Wolverhampton Uni, unless you're doing Deaf Studies (top university in the country wooooo!), War Studies, Creative Writing or something else that only has a dozen courses in the country. I did (because Leeds wouldn't let me in, bastards), and look what happened to me...

Leeds University is in close proximity to the hardest-drinking Heartlanders this side of Hadrian's Wall. Get On In.

*nod* Keep it up here with the rest of us, lads. York is OK, but not astounding. It's redeeming factor is, as mentioned above, transport links to the heart of Heartland.

<<<< blah, blahs passim -
I had to go to Dundee Art School (they did pure graphic design back then) my flat mate for all 4 years was from Armley.
He came up to Dundee because (he told me) he couldn't do Town Planning ({clap of thunder/beelzebub rises}) anywhere else on the island.
It was the late 70s.
there will now follow a question and answer session... not
