R.I.P Godfather of Soul

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Thanks Biggy for clearing up a burning issue in our hoose today - my dad kept saying, every time the news was on "That's a really good head of hair for a man his age if it's real"...
haha, his own hair ..... bought and paid for.

I forgot, he was a convicted armed robber as well as a woman beater. Bad bad James. Nice suits though.

The one he beat up - well, the most publicized one anyway - died on PCP while recovering from plastic surgery. She must have been in a real hurry to check out. Bad facial day?

Augusta, Georgia, late September
One Mr. Brown's hot tempered
This man's possessed, he's restless
He's armed and dangerous, drugged and reckless

Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely son
But he's on the run on a shotgun m*****n
"Listen here c*cksuckers, motherf*ckers, pay respect to my building.
It's JB property and it could be the one you get killed in."

Cops arrive, "What's this, what's happening,
What's what, where's the hot shot?"
James pushed his luck too far this time
His pick-up truck's flat out and flying

"I wanna get into it man, y'know?"
Not now James, we're busy
Not now James, not now James "Waaaahhh!"
Not now James, we're busy
Not, not, not now James
Not now James, we're busy

Cops get excited and grin with glee;
They got themselves a celebrity!
Seven cars give chase
"You're in the clear...this is the race of the year!"

Faster Soul Master, they're coming at you from all directions
Speed's your protection...don't look behind ya 'til south Carolina
Cops spring a roadblock "He ain't gonna stop!"
"He's gonna take a pop!"

"Fellas, I'm ready to get up and do ma thing!"
Not now James, we're busy
Not now James, we're busy
Not now James, we're busy
We're busy
Not now, James

Someone opens fire, the trucks front tires are blown out
"Get the hell out!"...
A six mile skid, trapped in a ditch,
In the lap of the FBI, the Secret Service, the Russians
"They're all in this, they're doing it to James
Like they did it to Elvis"

"I wanna get into it man, y'know?"
Not now James, we're busy
Not now James, not now James "Let's deal with your mind"
We're busy "Hold it now"
Not now James, we're busy "Hold it now"

A "good-foot" dance in a dusted trance...
Breath tested "No Chance!" Arrested!

"We're gonna do a song..."
Not now James, we're busy
Not now James "Waaaahhh!"
Not, not, not now James, we're busy "Hold it now"
Not, not, not now James
We're busy "Hold it now"

Even tho that is an extremely witty remark, I STILL don't believe you!

Test: Boudi and MB come over to the Christophe Mansion for the Belgian HL invasion and we both lock them up in one room.

THEN try to convince me ;)

If that happened, we wouldn't come out with black eyes and grazed knuckles, rather potions and mischievous glints in our eyes.

Soon afterwards, you and your mates would turn into frogs on stage

What a silly test IZ! Boudi and I have been in the same room together on more than one occasion and we didn't need to be locked up.

R.I.P. indeed.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Mister Brown has never fully convinced me.
Somehow he's still lagging behind Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Wilson Pickett, and a few others on my personal all-time-favourite-soul-singer list. :|
:innocent:

But to call him talentless is way too much IMHO. What do you think your everyday James Brown fan thinks of the Girls ?

Not sure about the genius bit, but it's an undeniable fact that "Nutbush city limits" is miiiiiiiiles better than "The best" (just to name one). 8)
Does political correctness have to go so far that you can't recognize a wife beater's talents in specific fields ? :? :innocent:

It goes the same way as insulting people for telling an Ipswich joke.

It DOES strike me as odd, tho, that this kind of behaviour seems to be around more during the x-mass days.

People bitching about charity things, for example.

For the Belgians and Dutch, I had some serious discussions on other fora about Music For Life, and a lot of people found this event "despicable, only to buy yerself some peace for fecking up the planet" etc etc

And also this. RIP famous person, and around these days you get a lot more comments like: "yes but he beat his wife and kids and stuff, so not THAT great a loss maybe".

A great musician has passed away. He was no angel, hell, he wasn't even the best in his genre, but he gave a lot of people joy and pleasure. I know a lot of wife-beaters that are NOT ENTERTAINING AT ALL.

End rant.

Jolly x-mass. Ho bloody ho.

(and I ken James, not noo, we're Izzy ;D)

What do you need for James Browns' funeral?

A dead James Brown.
