Fave Sisters Bootleg?

Post your reviews of Sisters-related material or interviews with Sisters-related musicians here. And don't believe the hype: 1985 most definitely is a fashion statement.

Ok, we all have them, apart from Paddy , and some of us have more than others, but what's your fave sisters bootleg and why?

i am torn between:

"disguised in black" @ newcastle, 1985 - sound quality ace, von's comebacks to the audience are wickedly sharp, and its a generally top gig.

the docks, toronto, 1999 - again, decent sound, good set with some newer stuff (some still in development from the sound of it too) and some ace comments from the man

the forum, london - 06.09.2000. sounds like a wicked gig all round really

so what're your faves?

Oi quiffy!
They were my choice too...Stop Thief!!!!!

"Disguised" is fab coz of the brilliant sound quality as much as anything...It's pretty much crystal clear (this is on vinyl too w'hoo!)

The version of Gimme Shelter is stonking...and W***e H****y's guitarwork is v, v nice...Shows that he CAN play whatever his (many) detractors might claim...

And there's a rare performance of nine while nine and a f**cking excellent version of Ghostrider. What more can one ask for? (Except - perhaps - for happiness, lots of money, a regular shag etc...oo-er I'll shut up now)

And the Docks performance is cool cuz they're good versions of the - ahem - 'new' stuff! Plus Mr E's asides were clearly worth the admission fee alone!

I believe that certain sisters gigs are taped and have been lucky enough to hear some of them on occasion

It's always changing, but at the moment

Amsterdam Paradiso 1983, my first and still always spinning on my turn table.

NEC 1992, with the new angry Eldo and a damb fine Fix to boot.......ignore the pun it was s**t

Notts 1984, the doKtor has a breakdown v funny gig

Notts 2000, there's something about that place

Oh and yeah from 85 Newcastle "Disguissed in black" and Bonn would in there also.

Ez.

Now off to confirm those choices right to win from the other hundred or so potential candidates. ;-)

DIB definately the best live bootleg, Amsterdam '83 a close second, mainly for the Reptile stuff, Lights especially and a cracking Louie Louie. Good banter as well.
As far as bootleg recording go my fave is In the Shadow of Angels, the one with Wide Receiver and the alternative versions of FLA stuff.
Another one ! forget the title of at the mo which has the original Serpents kiss instrumental and 2 versions of Garden of Delight with AE and the hired hand singing. Also has Sister Ray live from '82.

i'm in the process of regrowing my hair, at the moment it's at the "very untidy can't do s**t with it" stage, when i'm trying to work or do 'fiddly' things i can get most of it into a hairband on the top kinda thing with the back still hanging down, kinda like the 'new model army' haircut everyone seemed to have about 10/12 years ago (cept without the braids, the spanish oiks take the p*ss about the long hair, if i came in wearing platts i get the the p*ss taken even more!!! lol (like i give a fug!;))

anyway, topic, yeah, bootlegs, can't really say, i like bits of a lot of them, some have better versions of this, some have better versions of that etc etc etc. most of the bootlegs i have are on mp3 with the tracks already cut, so i mainly mix 'n' match, allowing me to hear the gig/setlist of my dreams (i really don't think you wanna know ) so, yeah, bootlegs, we lurve 'em.

ae in crying shocker!!!! i've never heard of the track, i heard 'reports' of andy once crying on stage, but i put it down as 'a load of old twaddle' as it was reported from a person in the crowd, who wasn't directly at the front, through layers and layers (and yup, layers) of smoke and dry ice, and ae was standing behind a microphone, and was holding a fag and wearing a hat, whilst wearing shades.......

i think for anyone to notice he must have been bawling his eyes out!!!!!!

but if anyone was mp3 evidence of this (or photos, or signed letter from the man himself saying 'yes i did it, it was me, it really was, lurve andy' then i'd love to see/hear/taste/smell it

@ quiffy baby

yeah, most free (and not so free) hosts use cgi scripts to stop pic linking (all to do with mime i believe - although what exactly french street theatre has to do with it i don't know ). it's all to do with the bandwidth, loads of ppl using geobollocks and the like to store pics for ebay etc etc.

i'll try a pic with my server, if it works then you can email me a pic if you like and i'll host it for ya

is my only bootleg.

It's decent; the "Ribbons" has some groovy moments, and the Flood II sound decent live.

Pat's version of Some Boys Wander by Mistake - perfect sound, great tunes, lovely compilation
Smoke and Mirrors : London Forum, 18-4-03 DVD - top notch audience recording with great sound
The Darks were in Milan - nice sound, great performance from that classic line-up
Koln, 6-3-01 - good sound, bangin' gig

My god, another old thread resurrected.

As I've said before, the best bootleg (in terms of sound quality) I've heard is Exile On Euphoria. Though perhaps Stairway To Heaven for its rendition of the Led Zep song.

Disguised in black is a classic among classics. Plus it has Nine while nine.
Visions at the forum, London 02.13.98 - stonking versions of Logic, Body electric, Anaconda...
