Having friends with totally diff music tastes

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

...hate to break it to you, but The Doors were described as "gothic rock" in 1967.
Mmm remember jim's hated of labels even more and the goth label meant so much diff back in the 60s

xxx
I know nothing about Jim Morrison or The Doors, and AFAIK, "gothic" in the 60s just meant "vaguely related to gothic architechture, large, ornate, foreboding".

All my friends have the most excellent taste in music.
The people I work with are quite another thing, sadly.

Luckily I have a boyfriend who's even more metal than me, but my close friends that I spend a lot of time with aren't really into it all which is ok really as I have other "metal" friends in London to go to gigs with.

That's the advantage of having such a broad musical taste in music as well as in friends... ;D

I can always talk to ANY of my friends about music, be it rock, heavy metal, extreme metal, ambient, electro, industrial, wave, sixties, seventies... because I have at least one friend being into one of these genres. ;D

That means I have at least nine friends. Cool! ;)

My best friend has exactly the same music taste as me, which is great, and useful seeing as we make music together, lol.

I know three people (including him) that like the Sisters and three teachers that like the sisters :D

My team at work used to consist of:

One Goth Boy.
One Gangsta Rap Dawg.
One Motown Funk Soul Diva.
One Happy Clappy Pop Shite Girl.

It made for some interesting conversations.

I had to explain to someone the other day that the Rainbow CD I'd said I was listening to was a 1970s rock group - not the soundtrack to a children's TV programme...

Kamikaze post?!

I've dated outside my musical tastes, and that went fine. More of concern is how conflicting your general personality is.
