studio photos?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

There are some pics of them recording in PUK studios. I'm sure I've seen 2 of them in a magazine or fanbook or something like that... can't really remember wich one, but I'll go through the archives some time soonish and try to find them.

lachert mentioned a tv interview shot during rehearsals in hamburg. I guess he is talking about the premiere interview from 1993 which must haven been taken during preparings for the Overbombing tour (or the summer gigs, not quite sure). I think that was the one and only time I have seen those background singers. When I saw the Sisters on that tour there was so much smoke on stage I could barely see the guitarists :-) Andreas had dark hair on that tour and Adam still had long hair :-)

Once I have seen pictures from the PUK studios. A certain party in Belgium owns them. You could see Von and Andreas on the pics - no Tim, no Tony. I think Andrew once mentioned in an interview that there's only one short guitar part played by Tim on the record. It is also said that Tony joined when the record was finished already. So it was Von and Andreas only who recorded the album - although Tony is featured in the booklet.

Would be interesting to see some photos from the Floodland sessions...

Somewhere around here, Andreas noted that "John Perry came by and played the slide guitar parts on Detonation Boulevard. He is a nice guy. " The parts about Tony and Tim seem to be what I have heard, though.

I thoiought about adding her to my post as well, but I am not sure if she was at the studio, or if she added vocals remotely. I do not recall seeing any hotos of her and Andrew together.. Not that I have seen pictures of Andrew and John Perry together either....

hmm...It could very well be that's where I've seen those pics! I believe there were 2 pics, but I only remember one: with Von pulling a face to the camera (and I think he's spreading his arms wide open), right?

That's why I couldn't get the pics located in ze archive  Ah well...

Thanx for the info, Christian :notworthy:

PUK studio photos:

photo (1):
Andrew standing with his back to the camera, one foot on a leather chair, Andreas in the back ground

photo (2):
Andreas with acoustic guitur sitting on a chair, another guy with electric guitar behind him, three more guys with no instruments (no band members), lots of studio equipment

photo (3):
Andreas sitting on chair, playing electric guitar, unsharp person (Andrew without glasses?) sitting on a chair, mixing desc in the back ground.

(Disclaimer: no, I will not post these photos. I own a xerox copy only anyway).

Thanks for the link to the interview, Petersi. Unfortunately I have not noticed this thread when it was posted. Interesting reading - not only for the studio stories. When I saw the Sisters in Hamburg in 2001 I was 90% sure that I have seen Andreas with two other mates. Now I am sure it was him :-) I have also seen Rodney Orpheus at that gig btw.

Was it the Pip Dan interview for 120 Minutes? With Andrew and Andreas in a fish market? Andreas looking mildly confused throughout? Got it, too.

The fish market interview was pretty cool. lachert was refering to the 1993 premiere interview (broadcast in early 1994 when I recall it right, the band was rehearsing for the overbombing tour when the footage was shot).

Christian is 100% right. it's from 93.
my copy has terrible quality but if you want you can download it here:
http://chomikuj.pl/mrsister/the+sisters ... _audio.avi
it's only a fragment of broadcast when basement and band was show. i cut out audio to make file smaller but it was studio "vision thing" :innocent:
better quality version most appreciate ;D
long live rock'n'roll
