To add to the confusion, we also put this on our chips . It has scotch for an ingredient instead of vinegar. Perhaps more appealing to the MacHL contingent?

And there's nothing 'in between this and that'.
In Belgium, when you want something 'in between mayo and dressing', you take mayo and put some dressing on top.
That's why they call our broth 'haute cuisine'
