Question - old speakers on new pc?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

When we got our WinME back in 2001 we also got a bloody good speaker system with it. A Camdridge Soundworks, Desktop Theater 5.1, DTT2500 Digital.

We'll be buying a new PC soon and mum wants to know will those speakers work in the new pc? Or will they not be recognised? something to do with drivers? :?

Or will it just be a case of unplugging them from the old PC and plugging them into the one?

Do you mean I will need to take the soundcard out of my old PC and put it in the new one for the speakers to work?

Speakers don't need drivers, no.

The only thing you have to look at is that your new card supports 5.1 when you connect 5.1 speakers, obviously.

Connections are farily standard, as far as I know...

Can't see the wiring from your picture, what plugs do the speakers use? And how many are there?

5.1 is pretty much standard all even integrated cards these days, so it should be just plug-out, plug-in.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

But then would you not have to buy iSpeakers that are just the same as any others but more expensive?

I spit on your gravy, Davey!

Only if you're a 'style guru' like you.
