emo vs. goth

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Since there's no "neither" option, I'll put "emo", because goth is just more amusing and varied.

Both are quite horrible when they become ("sub")cultural phenomenas. Which says nothing of the individuals in either. But still in most cases it does. i mean, a cultural phenomena is basically when something once substantial has been degraded to the level of a meme...

They're both as bad as each other when taken too seriously.

You can't really blame them, if you had Rod Hull's hand up your bottom all day you'd be a bit sulky too.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I find emo to be a genuinely abhorrent phenomenon in yoof culture.
I seem to have just escaped the generation that spawned it by the skin of my teeth, and I am eternally grateful.

Not a sentiment, incidentally, that yer emo kids are overly familiar with.

I'm still debating whether it's a cause or just a symptom of all that's wrong with the world at the moment... I'll get back to you when I do...

People can be as detestable or friendly as they like, regardless of who's band t-shirt they're wearing. No scene is any 'better' or 'worse' than the other.

About the only advantages I can see are that Goth has thirty plus years of formation, development, and increasing complexity, whilst emos are the latest bastard offspring of alternative subculture based social engineering, and the most likely member of our freakish family to get slapped with an ASBO.

I don't ever recommend looking down on someone because of the group they belong to.

Your rules and social structure mean nothing to me! I listen to early NWA and Slim Shady - but I'm not a rap fan, far from it!

Well, Football, I steer clear of! I try not to be disinclined against a large group of men full of lager and testosterone, especially when I look like such a lady myself.

Apart from the stupid hair and crayola make-up,Emo's could well be 80's gofffs, Shame their music is such pop oreintated sh'ite.
And thank f**k the spooky kid twats have stopped calling themselves goffs finally.

Emo is just the 'other mainstream'

Its something different thats become fashionable. A whole music scene with its own sence of style brutally gang raped by the fashion industry and record industry. You turn a challenging (crap) and underground genre of music (hardcore) into a toned down packaged product. By 'this' CD, cut youyr hair like 'this' and you can be one of us. For a generation seeking an identity of their own, its the perfect con.

The fact is most people never intended to fall into the trap, and some still deny it they have, they are just victems of another mainstream trend.

You can tell I'm a goth can't you? I understand you, you silly looking goon, but you obviously have no idea what I'm about. Yes I am aware I look silly, but I make silly look good. Twerp.
Nationalise the f**king lot.

I was gonna ask the Boss for the rank of 'Watcher Of The Skies', but I think 'Old Git' would be more honest. Thanks Iz. :(
