Why is this Heartland Rev. 2.0?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

:D

"heartland rev 1.0" (or just "heartland" as it was known) was this forum's first incarnation.

it used an old version of the phpbb bulletin board software - phpbb v1.4.4 - which had less features and wasn't as flexible or as friendly to use (or as easy to admin!)

it even lived at a temporary address for a while too, until i had decided that it was going to take off and was worth carrying on with...

http://heartland.dc-hosting.net/

when i moved to this permanent URL and subsequently upgraded the forum software (just over a year ago - the upgrade took place april 2002 i seem to recall. the move a little earlier than this) it felt like a revision of the version number was the right thing to do... just call me an I.T. geek :urff:

in much the same way the "shot rev2.0" videos took the first version and added to it, "heartland rev 2.0" represented a bigger, faster, friendlier and way more powerful forum experience - and it came in a selection of very pretty (and probably very cruel) colours... even though most of you still use the red & white scheme  ;)

I'm getting a bit nostalgic, those were the days before I started posting.

Aaah, that was lovely. A bit like being huddled around the old wireless. I'm glad I asked now.

Ta Hallucienate!

I have to admit it's taken me years and years to finally discover them for the joy (if that's the right word!) they are!! but I'm getting there... ;D :notworthy:

I'm sure I can find it in my heart to accomodate said jangle... :innocent:
