The Heartland Effect

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I've been around only a little in the last few months, having spent rather more time here previously.

It's amazing. I've found myself in some extraordinarily dark places in the last two years, and have come critically close to moving upstairs on more than one occasion. I've questioned my relationships, my job, the ways I spend my time, and of course where I'm going. Throughout all the s**t I've taken there has always been the fact that there are people on here I know and care about, people who amuse us all, and people who remind me of the different ways there are to think about 'stuff'.

To those of you who know me, thanks. :notworthy:

And, James, thanks for starting this one off.

It's not often I stray into the General Chat section...can't think why and it's probably to my detriment that I don't. For some reason I fear I'd start putting up threads about geopolitics and the general crapness of western industrialised society, etc., etc. Wouldn't want to bore the heck out of you good folks.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes...virtual grope...erm..group hugging...

I've been here for almost a year now and I don't think I've ever met a more accomodating and wonderfull bunch of misfits in all my life. I almost feel like I belong. I say almost because I never usually manage to "fit in" anywhere.

I'd like to thank Big Si for passing on the TC demos that I missed.

And to sisterstekland. I've only just made a certain mental connection to the Frenchman I met while waiting outside Leeds Uni refectory, 3rd May last year, who gave me a copy of his superbly made "Two Thousand Five" live DVD boot.

And a really big thank you to mh for suggesting the "While We're Waiting..." idea. I'd almost given up on the idea of continuing to bother with doing anything musically. Thanks for (unwittingly) getting me back on track.

As for the rest of you...you make HL what it is. :notworthy: :notworthy:

Can I go back to my usual bitter and twisted self again now? I can only selfinflict a certain sense of sentimentality of so long

A huge pat on the back for James Blast and his, as ever, quality Blast Products package that arrived the other day.

I'll be in Prog Rock Heaven tomorrow afternoon, when I finally get a chance to get round to listening to it all! :D

Best...Slogan...EVARR! :notworthy:

Just wanted to bump the Heartland Effect again for the Tech Support I was graciously provided with to get my sound back. As I have no stereo or anything, I was deprived of ALL my music without my PC. Nobody was obliged to help, but they did pitch in - even with uselessness, *cough*weebles*cough* and prove that the Heartlanders are a generous mob.

Cheers, you groovy people.

y'know it's all been a bit hellish for me out here in the "real" world recently.on top of having certain intrusive authorities to deal with due to living in a very-small town, a very good friend of mine was murdered two weeks ago (well the pigs are conducting a murder enquiry and he's/his body hasn't turned up yet so we can assume he's brown-bread). he had two kids and a lovely wife and was a proper p*ss-taking, foul-mouthed, hard-as-nails bastard with a heart of gold and will be well-missed.

makes you think dunnit? i love you all -even the ones i don't.  :notworthy:

 Jeez Lee. Sorry to hear it.
Hope you and his family get some information about what's happened, there's nothing worse than that state of not knowing anything.

And we love you too!

I am currently feeling the Heartland Effect in full swing.

As some of you might know this week's been a bit of a downer for me but I've received some great support through the forum and through some lovely PM's.

And also through the medium of some wonderfully dodgy g0ff music! 8)

Thanks guys :D

Thanks for rebooting this one Robert, I never got alerts after post#109. I also hope things are looking up for you.

You know.
That wave comes over me every day.
1st thing I do every day is check out the latest posts & banter.
There are so many selfless folks here that it becomes irresitable.
& what makes me buzz so much are the respones when a pm or package reaches it's destination & you know you have taken part in that whole thing.
I am hoping to be at the meet in August & a big nod to Weebs, as I don't know him & he doesn't know me from adam.
Suffice to say, I don't mind making my own coffee mate
I have a large scotch in my hand right now & I'm raising it to all of you crayzees out there.
Cheers.
