Sisters genre

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Not going for the Techno-Industrial Country&Western Acid-Jazz R&B Big Band Swing Fusion then?
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

 Nice one Jess, you've just totally trampled on my love of The Sisters. How can I possibly listen to a techmo band with any dignity or self-respect.

Hey stand by your music taste, Ravey. You're the proto-type of a techmo. Just look yourself in the mirror my friend. :P

Whats even funnier is sitting with a techno fan and watching him see Panic at the Disco descibing themselves as "emo/Alternitive/Techno" on Myspazz.

Never have a I seen such righteous fury.

I just thought of an anology.

If Joy Devision is Jesus, ie 100% Jewish. Sisters are the disciples, still technically Jews, but they wrote the book on Christianity. Then you have followers such as "insert goth band here" which are the horde of People in our brand spanking new (30 years old) religion.

Jesus kinda had a right to claim to not be a Chritian, but St Peter's hatred of "those God-botherers" is pushing it a little bit.

Orchestral remixes are fun, but I get bored easily, so chances are the "big band" versions aren't getting released for a bit. ;D

And no, I can't be bothered with the vast majority of genres containing "post-" "-core" or "-rock" tagged on.

Post-rockcore anyone?

I'm pretty content referring to them as a hard rock band from Vision Thing onward, albeit one with a drum machine and some synths.

The Sisters are Goth Rock.
People tend to think that the History of something, in this case a Band, started the day they became interested in that subject, how the fuck can they be "emo-ebm-techno-???" when they pre dated these pigeon hole genres by decades :urff:

I'll run with Techmo for now, cos I'd love to hear Von chanting "Techmo! Techmo! Techmo! Techmo!" on the new single (ha!)
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
