Funeral song?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Off the top off my head, the first song that comes to mind. That I want them to play at my funeral would be Sisters of mercy with Marian. That would make them think of me and know that Marian (me) will be there for them. A bit morbid maybe.. :innocent:

I know there are other songs that will come to mind too. But that is the first that comes to mind. I guess Ill post the others when I think of them.

Oh yeah, and "Questions in a world of blue" with Julee Cruise. Guess that is a bit more of a song to play at such an event..

I did not start this to put anyone down, so dont get sad

Sad? I'm delighted!

This one is really easy. "Host of Seraphim", Dead Can Dance. But since I'll be dead, I rather listen to it ocasionally... while I'm still here. :P

I always said I wanted to have a party organised after my funeral with a tracklist to be chosen amongst a list that I would choose beforehand....so that people remember me for the music I liked..... :) a bit strange I know, maybe a bit pretentious.....but one song?
I don't know, maybe something really sad followed by something happy.....
(so people had their tears flowing for just a little while and then they can start smiling again :)
the sad thing has to be something by current' 93....maybe they returned to their earth (for christ thorn)
the happy thing....maybe shameless by the pet shop boys :D
shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather....

'It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - REM

or

Fade To Black (Metallica)

or

Burn (Sisters)

all depending on your chosen means of disposal.

Ride of the Valkyries, as the helicopters sprinkle my poisoned ashes over Capitol Hill.

Sorry, that was a bit odd. But it looked good in my head.

nice idea, but it would have to be the stones' original version of gimme shelter for me - that guitar intro, a nice sunset and those helicopters in silhouette coming over the horizon, the sound of the blades "thwacking" as they get nearer to the whitehouse...

smashing :)

Gimme Shelter would work too.

Or, of course, Mother Russia.

I'm going NOWHERE!

I fully intend to do everything possible to stay put and plague the life out of far too many people to go and do anything as daft as dying....

never considered anything beyond actual deadness...
tricky one that tho...do you base your choice on things which you would like to "hear",personal meanings and such based in songs,or pick based on what you want funeral attenders to remeber you by

umm think if,there did happen to be anyone witnessing my passing,id rather they spoke some words than listened to tunes.dont care what was said,as long as it was the truth.never liked the idea of people suddenly being nice just becasue you're dead, hypocritical and all that.

not that i'm a bitch that is, :P :)

:) well i guess from my personal point of view,i would look upon it as a last representation of "me" like, signing your name at the end of a letter...signing off from earth, checking out of this existance....

so i'd want something of "me" to be present,or since i would be dead something of my values, which is where the truth factor would come into it :)

just the way i look at it mind you :D ,music is another way of expressing things too

my funeral tracklist could be something like that:

- Sisters "Adrenochrome"
- Soft Cell "Sex Dwarf"
- Vennaskond "Uimane ja väsinud" (funny and primitive post-punk, lyrics are: "you thought i was tired yesterday, you thought it was due to a wine, you thought you could attract me today - but no! - drowsy and tired i seem today, i seem today, i seem today, ahhahhaa-ahhahhaa-ahhahhahaa")
and last but not least - Die Ärzte "Leichenhalle" ;D

why should people cry because of my leaving the building?

I'm curious, why this song?

and I think it is amazing and disgraceful; that no-one has yet picked 'Spirit in the Sky' (the Dr. and the Medics version, obviously.)

Oh come now, there's only one suitable funerary tune!

Killed By death, Motorhead.

Possibly followed by I kill Children by the DK's as I'm removed from the Church.

damn' - i couldn't find any website where you could download this song :(
but i suggest it - and to get the entire pleasure you have to listen to the song until the very end of it :)
anyway, here is the lyrics:
http://aerzte.c-v-t.com/texte/leichenhalle.txt
and very bad & uncomplete translationn by altavista:

MORTUARY

The last sleep, it was very deep.
Somewhat happened, while I slept.
Cold tiles, decaying smell -
on my body a corpse cloth.

Something bad happened,
because my hair does not stand any longer.
The feet hurt from the shade dance,
and where to the Henker my rosenkranz is.

They forgot me.
Where are you all? Where are you all?
Here there is nothing to eat,
in the mortuary, in the mortuary. (2x)

My situation is not fatal,
no make-up, Kajal.
The death angel gave me a kiss.
Now the pointed shoe presses at my Drudenfuss.

They forgot me.
Where are you all? Where are you all?
Here there is nothing to eat,
in the mortuary, in the mortuary. (2x)

We sat together and moved the table.
The corpses around me, them are not fresh any longer.
Say, its dead one, does where you come?
From Schlumpfhausen, ask much!
Oh so!

Lalalalalalalalalalalalala...

You can play "Come Together" by my dearest Jason Pearce while you tie me up and put me to sleep.

If there's a funeral, you can play the "the Comet is Coming" theme music.

Cherio, folks.

spiritualized's "feel so sad" is lovely too - especially the "rhapsodies" mix :von:

Mmmmmmm oh yeah!!!

I was thinking Walking With Jesus actually: "I think I'll be in company down there with all my friends".
