Reading too much into bands names

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Just had a laugh to one of the threads on the Terrorizer magazine forum about reading too much into band names, and I wondered if anyone could think of any others? Admittedly I did nick these ones

Cradle Of Filth. Who keeps pornography in a child's cot?

Bestial Mockery - taking the p*ss out of animals? "Haha, you furry wankers, you can't even read a book!"

Darkwoods My Bethrothed - marrying trees

Velvet Revolver- Not much use in a duel

...And Oceans: WHAT and oceans? Just tell us.

Apocryphal Voice: "Did you hear a voice?" "Nah, a lot of people claim they did but in fact there never was a voice at all."

Arise From Thorns: Surely this refers to a sort of shocked whooping noise followed by the sound of someone going s**t as they pluck thorns out of their arse.

Dark Funeral: "Where did you put the f**king coffin?" "I dunno, was it over here?" *CLONK* "Ouch"

The Embraced: Go on, give us a cuddle.

Funeral Mist: "Where did you put the f**king coffin?" Sorry, I've done this.

Naer Mataron: As loved by Kenneth Williams.

astral doors - oooh, doors that go into space!

current 93 - what, the 93rd current you ate?

alkaline trio - calcium carbonate, potassium hydroxide & sodium hydroxide?

Vader - Seriously did they get their name from Darth Vader?

Blind Guardian - Wouldn't be a very good Guardian if they were blind!

Here's two more:

Paradise Lost - I'm sure I left it around here somewhere...
Fields of the Nephilim - it's amazing what you can grow with good soil and the right fertilizer
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Blimey that's a long name for a band ;)

I can't help myself. I won't allow anyone to be more LOTR anal than me :D

Black Metal is just Lotr fanboy noise. Varg Vikkerness had a 6 meter map of middle earth of his wall and Burzum means darkness in the black language. Don't get me started on Summoning.

Celtic Frost - a cold day in the Jungle*
Voivod - you were trying to spell voided, yeah?
Nine Inch Nails - Home Improvement

Of course, that's the whole POINT of 'Summoning' ;D

Its a bit like saying that Goff is just 'Nosferatu: the movie' and Theda Bara fanboy noise...
