Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults.

That article was pointed out to me by Paul the other day, water off a duck's back. Amusing article as are the comments. Having seen this brave new world of Vista, I just wonder why it took so long to catch up with us on the 'shining path'?

Gotta love Charlie Brooker. Anyone else watch Screenwipe (Mondays 10:00 pm BBC4)?

back to topic...
he's right, but only in the sense that the grey-box-pc is the mechano set of its day.
overall what is the home computer for anyway? we now have the internet and good it is too.
but take that away and it is a plastic blob for playing with picture and sound that keeps most of the population indoors and 'calm' outside office hours. fisher-price for adults indeed!
I have resisted for years and am only just getting a decent connection at home...for the works laptop.
is is a consumer item and one that looses value over time (like a car)

Myst, the most pompous and boring videogame of all time, a plodding, dismal "adventure" in which you wandered around solving tedious puzzles in a rubbish magic kingdom apparently modelled on pretentious album covers, originated on the Mac in 1993. That same year, the first shoot-'em-up game, Doom, was released on the PC. This tells you all you will ever need to know about the Mac's relationship with "fun".
If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality

Funny, but it confuses me, I can perfectly perform a right click (or a ctrl+click even - good for when the mouse stops cooperating), hardly convinced by the article

I have to say that's it's a bit unfair of Mr Brooker slagging off Macs - just because I'm a techie doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a baby-computer available for non-techies.

yeah, i think that's the whole piont of the adverts; to try and keep the distance between apple and 'the bland PC'.Dr. Moody wrote:Funny how charlie brooker most resembles the boring pc one , isnt it all a bit reduntant since the big intel changeover anyway?
Especially as MSoft and HP are sponsoring a prize to 'sex-up' the PC

my friend has a similar ghost buster fetish and once drunk it takes little encouragement to get him into his home made costume and back-pack

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Linux an operating system like Windows, that can go on either computer, PC or a Mac? So although it's humerous to see a fat nerd in a Tron suit, it's pretty silly to compare Linux to a Mac and PC.

At a hardware level yes. But the gist of the ad campaign is based on the Operating System i.e. Mac OSX, Windows and Linux. The hardware is irrelevant. Mac just calls Windows installed computers a PC to avoid trademark issues.nick the stripper wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Linux an operating system like Windows, that can go on either computer, PC or a Mac?
